SailorMoonFan wrote:I have some questions about the Sailor Moon DVDS (the original Japanese version with subtitles). Right now I'm a little confused on some things and don't know what to buy at this point.
#1: I'm thinking about getting the Sailor Moon DVD collection with ALL 200 episodes plus the 3 movies in Japanese with subtitles. Are all Season 1 & 2 sets in the original Japanese language issued by the company ADV? Also are Seasons 3 & 4 plus the 3 movies released by Geneon/Pioneer? Now what about Sailor Stars? Are those released by any company? If they are not, it must mean they are unofficial and if so are the "subtitles" accurate enough and are they translated by people who know how to translate Japanese to English very well?
#2: Should I buy the WHOLE SM Collection DVD Set on "Anime-Home.com" or should I just start with the 1st SM DVD set from the "Classic" series? Oh, by the way the SM collection with all 200 episodes is the "Perfect Collection" too.
#3: Is the missing episode from Sailor Moon R in the "ADV" released sets now? When will the Sailor Moon SuperS specials be released on DVD officially?
And my last question for now is: Does anyone know the return policy for the Sailor Moon DVDS on
www.sailor-moon-stars.com
Thanks!
I wouldn't buy the DVD-boxsets from them. These "Perfect Collections" are bootlegs, they have too many episodes on too few DVD's. And the price is too cheap, the originals that were published by ADV costs around $100 now and $188 for all episodes and movies is just a rip-off. However, the first two seasons are ripped from teh ADV-release so you get their release with a little better quality I think but it's still a copy. I don't know about S,SS and Stars though.
ADV didn't include episode 67 ever because they didn't get the rights to that episode.
The SuperS specials are released in Japan I think but there are no subtitles, it will probably never get released here either.
I would recommend you to try and find the official releases from ADV and Pioneer, for example at Ebay. You'd know that it's the right ones if they include many DVD's. (Season !=8 DVD's, R=8 DVD's, S=6 DVD's, SS=7 DVD's).

SailorMoonFan, the only place where you can get the 4 SuperS specials is off the R2 DVDs. Which have no subtitles. So if you know Japanese, or just don't care, that is where you buy them off.

Since the ADV company has already sold all of their copies of the Season 1 & 2 Sailor Moon season, how can I get an "official" release? I thought about getting the Sailor Moon Season 1 & 2 collection from
www.anime-home.com but are they bootlegs? If so where can I get an official Season 1 & 2 DVD set at a reasonable price?
Thanks.

They are bootlegs, you should try Amazon or Ebay or some place else to get the official releases. The ADV release of season 1 usually goes for arounf $70 and season two can go for around $100 when they are new. Just search for "Sailor Moon Season Two" or "Sailor Moon ADV" on Ebay and it should pop up some results. I don't really know what "reasonable price" is to you, though.

$70 is the about the amount that I would spend on the Sailor Moon Season 1 & 2 sets. On Amazon the DVDS are sold out and they do sell them from other sellers but they cost way too much money. Also I don't use Ebay and never buy things up there. I've been looking on different Anime Online DVD websites but still can't find it. I wish I got it when they first start selling them.

Yeah, they are really hard to find. Rightstuf had them a little while back but they are also sold out now. I don't really know any other site that has them other than Ebay that is but since you don't use that I don't see any other way.

First you create an account, of course. Then you preferably get a PayPal account that you bind to your creditcard so you can pay easily for the items you win.
Then you search for something thay you're interested in and if you find something good that you want you enter your highest bid. You know, it's an auction and if anyone else enters a higher bid, you don't get the item but if you have the highest bid at the end of the auction, you have to buy the item according to the rules. It's a really good site with a lot of cheap stuff and if you use PayPal, you are often insured if anyone rips you off but if you just check their feed-back score, it should be no problem.
I think that's it, if you have anymore questions, just ask them.

Yay! My PGSM Vol. 1 DVD came today and it looks even better than in pictures! Now, I am wondering what Region 2 DVD I should order next. Maybe you guys could tell me which one you would buy out of these -
- SMR Vol. 4 (has the missing episode #67)
- Stars Vol.'s 1,2,3,4,5, or 6
- PGSM Vol.'s 2-12
- Kirari * Super Live
- Act Zero
- Special Act
I'm thinking one of the Stars DVDs, but what's your guys' opinions?

Well, it really depends on what seasons you like, of the anime that is. I would go with SMR Vol. 4, I love the R season and I think that #67 is really good, it's cute and pretty "rare" in the US but if you like StarS better then you should go with that, I would buy Vol. 1 then, just because I love the ending of the Nehelenia arc.

Well I really do like Stars better, but since I am going to get the ADV SMR box set, it might be best to purchase the R DVD so that way I can have the complete season. Then I'll probably move to Stars. I'm also debating on whether or not to get the first SuperS DVD as well b/c it has the three story special that was never shown in America as well. I'm not sure though...

Yeah, if you have money then you should go for it. I think the special is kind of cool and a little cute sometimes.
I'm jealous, I want the ADV release of Sailor Moon R too. Too bad that they are really expensive on Ebay and if they're not, thy're not shipping to Sweden. I regret I didn't buy the S and SS boxsets here in Sweden because they imported the Pioneer releases but it costed about $140 so I didn't do it.

Yeah, I have always wanted the ADV box set too. I was lucky enough to find someone online that was selling theirs too - I got it for $85. That's a little more than what I wanted to pay, but I did pay $150 for the first season so that's extremely better.
I'm thinking I am going to get the SuperS DVD as well, for the specials and because SuperS has the some of the best animation in the whole series and it'll look even better on the region 2 DVD. I just really want to hurry up and get all the DVDs before I become a poor college student next year!

$150?

That's crazy, I bought mine for $85 including shipping to Sweden a few months ago. It was more than I wanted to pay for it but it's okay since I love it.
Yeah, the SuperS animations are really great, they should have had those animations combined with the S season, it would be great.
I'm already worse than you, I AM a poor High School student.

Well I got the first season DVD at Suncoast and of course they never lower the list price, but that was my only option at the time. I think as soon as my ADV box set gets here I'm going to order the SMR DVD.

I am now waiting for the SMR Vol. 4 Region 2 DVD to come in the mail, as well as the DiC DVD - The Secret of the Sailor Scouts, which I won on eBay for under $7! Now I just need Sailor Scouts to the Rescue and The Man in the Tuxedo Mask. Anybody have one they wanna sell or anyone know where I could find one?

That's nice, naughd07
Btw, I'm not waiting for my Sailor Moon S thin-pack boxset anymore. It turned out the shitty seller/company on Ebay didn't have it in "stock" so instead I got a full refund, that is also nice but I wanted that boxset so bad. And the seller have been putting up new auctions of the same thing several times afte I purchased mine.
So watch out for the seller "Moviemarz" on Ebay if you want Sailor Moon DVD-Boxes.

I got the 1st Season uncut subtitled and the Stars Season uncut subtitled from animecollector.com. Now I'm planning on getting the S season (from here I'm going to order them in order of how much I want them) and then I'm gonna get R and finally SuperS. I have the bilingual movie DVDs that were sold in stores so I'll have a complete collection(sorta). animecollector.com is pretty good. The 1st Season had poor sound quality but to me its tolerable, its not like I cant hear it or anything. The Stars disc 1 had messed up subtitles on some episodes, they forgot some in some places or the subtitle showed up early (although the mess up on the 8th episode was sort of funny). But its not too confusing but if you want really good quality maybe this isn't the choice, but they are pretty cheep compared to other places.
