IMO, it's quite interesting that in each countries, with different cultures, the most favorite senshi is so different.

In my country, sailor venus is by far the most beloved one, about 27.50 % voted, sailor mercury then came second with only 16.50% and Mars who is hated by many is as popular as Mercury here.

But IMO there's some similarity here, Chibi-Usa 's still the most hated character in any countries. LOL

Has anyone else noticed that the main character of a story--whether it be anime, books, movies--is never the #1 favorite character?

I think most manin characters aren't the favorites because they simply have more screen-time than the others. Also, most main characters are either made to be very boring, very stupid (Usagi...), or very troubled.

It just simply wouldn't work if characters like Minako, Rei, or Makoto were the main characters.

Sailor Moon is my favorite character but I notice a large majority of people favor Sailor Saturn (based on what I've seen in polls on different sites). Guess that proves that the least shown character is a lot of times the favorite.

Yeah, Sailor Saturn and Sailor Pluto seem to be the favorite.

I have never paid attention to the polls, but now that it's been brought up, Venus has always been a favorite.
