There is no kissing scene in the anime japanese version between haruka and michiru.

Isn't Haruka a pretty feminine name. Haru meaning spring I believe and ka... having something to do with something. I can't remember ever hearing a man called Haruka but I'm horrible with names so it's y'all's call. That being said, the Japanese version could easily be as constroversial if Haruka is normally a girls name

I'm not sure if it's a girl's name or if it's androgynous, though I've only heard of girl characters being named Haruka.

"Ka" can mean many things, one thing that "Haruka" could be is "spring scent," it could have those kanji in it. But Haruka on Sailor Moon writes her name in hiragana, so it doesn't have a definite "meaning" to it. Sometimes people say it's a pun for "haruka" meaning "distant" but it could also mean "spring scent" if you wanted it to.

I think Haruka is probably closer to distant as far as meaning goes. Since she's Sailor Uranus that puts her in line for Aquarius which makes her birthday sometime in February, (I can't remember the exact number... I think it's like the 12th or something) so spring is out. (As far as I know, spring starts in April)

I'm really curious as to whether Haruka is androgynous or not. It will really stir up some controversy. Chances are it is and it's just uncommon for a male to have the name. Kind like the names Robin, Ashley, Courtney, etc.

EDIT: According to this website (I find it reliable but you make your own descions) it's a fairly feminine name (also says it means distant, that's like... a split point)

You know, the dub should have just made Michelle Amara's mom and Amara Michelle's dad. That would have been the awesomeness.

I belive the universe just cringed thinking about the amount of destructive paradoxes that would occur if that was true.

Anyway Haruka and Michiru are far far FAR better than Amara and Michelle. I especially cant stand Amara's VA

well, i dont know if i can exactly post here, since I've seen the DUB of sailor moon all the way up into sailor stars, but i like amara and michelle. i truly thought they were cousins, then when i started watching sailor stars with subs, and they were a couple, it was just plain weird!
