Why is ADV's releases so bad? Read why...

Wassup you guys? Well, anyways, I bought the Season One boxset thinking that all those reviews were just a bunch of critics, and that most of it wasnt true. But ho-ho-ho-ho boy was I wrong! It was so cheaply produced, I've seen better bootlegs! (No seriously). The video quality was produced so grainy, along with deteriating sound, that fizzes in and out in most episodes, that it's hard to tell what's going on. For the most part, the translators were SO lazy! I mean, I could tranlate this better! (I'm fluent in japanese BTW). Here's some examples:

Episode 12:
ADV: Jadite: Darn that detestable girl!
Reality: "I hate that spiteful little wench!"

very different. Another?

Episode 1:
ADV: Usagi: "I can't believe it"
Reality: "Who the hell do you think you are?"

Episode 41:
ADV: Mamoru: "You impertanent little..."
Reality: "How could I lose to someone like you..."

Episode 34:
ADV: Usagi: "Huh? What the heck?"
Reality: "What's up with him?"

I could go on and on, but I'd rather not. If you think that they didn't say what they said, please email me the episode it was in, and who said it. I'll be more than happy to translate it for you.

Anyways, on with the quality. The main reason why the quality was grainy was because of the poor transfering onto the DVD's. To make things worse, they had very poor quality DVD's that you can get for $1.99 at a computer store, rather that some high quality ones like Mitsui Gold. Also, their equiptment was very low standart, believe me, none of this is made up. As you can see, in most episodes, there is usually a line that dances around, or something that's in the screen that look's weird, that's because they used a low-frame projection that the DVD's get their Audio and Video from. Because of all this, when their "projecters" occasionally wear out, the Video deteriates, or the audio get's fuzzed out. An example would be in episode 36.

Prolouge: When the music first starts to play, if you pay close attention, you can hear the bass dieing out, and then getting muffled, and then it returns to normal.

Part A: About the 20 sec.'s before the commercial break, the video starts to get very blurry, and the lines start to fade, and get wider.
This lasts for about the next 2 minutes. (About 1:30 into Part B)

Theirs way too many of these problem's to state, so I won't even bother... however, just to be quick, ADV's material was the Region 2 DVD masters. (The ones that you can get in japan). When they used their projectors that the DVD's get their video copied from, it would malfunction, or stop alot leaving the video to deteriate. The audio was in japanese 2.0, and got constantly deteriated because of their Audio copiers. When they transfered onto the DVD's, the low frame rates would constantly allow something to interfere with the sound, therefore, muffling it. The muffle scores are a 6.71349203365, which is pretty high (That's what my computer's synchroniser detected), and there is no way this can be fixed. Here's a way I can explain this. Imagine that you have a sound recorder, and your satnding far away from the speaker that you want to record from. If your too far away, while the audio is trasnfering, oxygen dulls out the sound waves before they reach the recorder.
The only ones to blame is ADV. I think I've covered everything, if there's anything else you want to know email me: [email protected]

We already have a topic on the boxsets. Topic locked.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.
