I don't recall Mamoru ever saying "I love you"... But, I heard that he did say it in the very last episode. Is that accurate?

I don't think it's in the last episode, but I know that he says "I love you" to Usagi in episode 173, when he gives her the ring. This is the first episode where the Starlights appear, too.

By the way, from what I've heard, saying "I love you" is a much bigger deal in Japan than it is here in America, and it's more serious. It's not like couples are always kissing each other and saying it; I think the culture is more reserved. Of course, I've never actually been there, so I'm just going off what I've heard. So Mamoru not being publically (sp?) affectionate to Usagi is more like what would be expected of him in Japanese culture.

No, not in the last episode..Usagi asks if he loves her, and he says something closer to "I don't want to be apart from you" or "You make me happy when I'm with you", something like that.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I just checked my fansubs and Mamoru does actually say that he loves Usagi in the last episode.

Usagi: Mamo-chan, do you love me?

Mamoru: Yes.

Usagi: Really?

Mamoru: Yes.

Usagi: Like how?

Mamoru: Why so suddenly?

Usagi: Please, like how?

Mamoru: Let's see....it feels wonderful to be with you!

Also, for what it's worth (maybe not much), in Mamoru's image song Dakishimetai Itai, he sings (in English) "I do love you."

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

But he does so indirectly and at the prompting of Usagi.

Come to think of it, I think he does outright say it in that episode where he was leaving for America and he gave her the ring. I believe he told her when he gave it to her, to be exact. Unless I have been mistranslating the phrase "aishiteru" all this time.

Is this song in any of the Sailormoon albums? If so what track?

It's on the Sailor Moon R Mirai he Mukatte album, track 6. It's available for download at www.sailormusic.net

To be fair, Seiya never directly says "I love you" to Usagi until he's prompted by Hotaru, and Haruka and Michiru never say "I love you" to each other, either. In fact, I don't think any couple in Sailor Moon had both partners say "I love you" to each other, expect for maybe Umino and Naru.

Just go through watching that episode and it does me "I Love you".

Also all of the sailor Soldiers were shocked that it might be a proposal  & Usagi did not know the meaning when he gave her the ring on her ring finger.

 Sailorasteroid, thank for telling me which album its on. :D

I don't remember Hotaru ever prompting Seiya to tell Usagi that; from what I remember, Seiya says it on his/her own to Usagi (or at least highly implies it) right before the final concert in episode 195.

The scene I'm referring to is in episode 197, "The Ruler Of The Galaxy, Galaxia's Threat!" when after the Inners
die, Hotaru asks Seiya "Do you like Sailor Moon?" Seiya says he does and then Hotaru says "Good, we seem to have the same hope. Please believe in our princess."
From what I remember of that scene, I don't think Saturn was referring to romantic love there, especially since she said "We have the same hope" as if she had the same feeling. I've always interpreted it as her asking all three Starlights if they were friends with Sailor Moon. Because I thought all three of them agreed that they were friends later or something.

I could be wrong, though, it's been quite a while since I've seen the end of Stars.

I'm gonna have to agree with Rainbow, here. As much as I like to ship Seiya/Usagi, I don't think Hotaru was referring to romantic love. It wouldn't make sense for her to agree that they have the same hope, becuase last time I checked, Hotaru wasn't in love with Usagi.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

You could always say that the "hope" they share is the hope for Sailor Moon's safety/victory, not her love. Both a friend and a love-interest would share that, so I can see how it could be interpreted either way.

I suppose I just interpret the way Rainbow does. I never thought of that other interpretation.

Yeah, everyone knows that Mamoru tells Usagi he loves her whenever he proposes. The real question is, does Usagi ever say the same to Mamoru?

Does Mamoru ever say "I love you" to Usagi in the manga? I know there has been a debate on Mamoru being colder and less affectionate to Usagi in the anime compared to his manga counter-part, so I was won dering if mamoru ever said the three magical words to Usagi in the manga?
