Is it wrong for a 14 year old 2 go with a 19 year old?

I think it is wrong and OK. I believe dating should be kept between adults and adults or kids and kids. But it seems Japan is more lenient with this kind of stuff, so that's what makes me feel more OK when it is accepted in Japanese life.

Here it's Front Page news and many years in jail on the offenders part.
But over there...I'm unversed in Japanese Laws so if it's legal there,it is legal there.

As for ethics, I believe that it is wrong.It's against my morals.A crush like Kitty & Peter in X-Men,later turning into romance when she is an adult is one thing, but this is another. They are young so anything could happen.

If Usagi were a real person, I would think it would be best that she not date him when she's 14. Yeah, they were lovers in their past life, but Usagi is still young and doesn't need to be in a serious relationship... God I sound like my Grandmother.

Since it's an anime I don't have a problem with it because Naoko wouldn't write Mamoru as a pervert who goes after younger girls.

Well, I'm 14 and I definetly would't mind dating a 19 year old! But is it right, well, I think it is. When my sister was 13 she dated a 23 year old, it was long distance though, but she still saw him every now and then! It all depends on what the guy is like, like Darien was respectful, and wasn't perverted, so he was ok to date a 14 year old.

The difference between 14 and 19 is 5 years. 13 and 23 is TEN. I'm 23 years old, and the thought of going after a 13 year old just icks the hell out of me. Gross.

There's also a big difference between animated fiction and real life. Now if Mamoru were 10 years older than Usagi, then I would still be icked out, even though it's fiction. That's just wrong in my opinion.

Ahem, anyway... If Mamoru were any other character I would find it disturbing but he doesn't seem to take the relationship very seriously (in the anime that is) anyway. It feels like he wants to wait a bit.

well like i said, they were long distance and got to see each other twice every year, for three years, so it didnt bother my mom. and what i meant was that darien wasnt a pervert (like the guy my sis dated) he actually loved serena, so it was ok.

If you watched the dubbed episode "Cosmetic Caper", that would hit the nail right on the head. Both Grandpa Kenji and Uncle Shingo both figure out that Mamoru is too old for Usagi and and Kenji chases Mamoru off. Also in this episode, we figure out how Chibi-Usa is hypnotizing them, which a parasol.

This really doesn't bother me at all. Right now it seems like a huge difference, but once they're 23 and 28 it doesn't seem like that much. I'll admit that because he is an adult and she isn't I wouldn't want a friend to date him yet, but if he's respectful and isn't just in the relationship for kicks (or worse, just to get a girl), I think it's fine.

I also know someone about a year younger than myself who was, at one point (maybe even still is), in some sort of relationship (actual relationship status unconfirmed by me) with a 14-year-old. I was not the only one icked. The 14-year-old's sister (who works in my section) does not appear to be icked at all.

Nothing. I was actually just saying how those two figure it out that he is too old. The Uncle/Grandpa bit was something I threw in on my own to make it more funny.

Shingo was reacting the way he did because he didn't think Usagi would ever get a boyfriend, and Kenji was reacting the way he did because he's Usagi's dad. Remember the one episode from Sailor Moon Classic where they were all taking the car trip and Kenji asked about Usagi's necklace? He freaked out then also, even though he didn't know who exactly gave it to her.

Yup, I don't think it had anything to do with Mamoru's age in the original. However, it might've been different in the dub, as I believe that was what Sailor V was talking about.
