Discuss episodes you liked or disliked.

42. It really matured Minako's character.

...You know, I hate to sound all evil and stuff.... But you tell us to describe what our favorite/least favorite episodes of the season were, yet you yourself fail to actually 'discuss' anything. You just give an episode title. I've seen this done three times in total. =/

I really liked epidode 42 because it matured Minako's character. In the dub she was just there. I also like the fight in this episode. I also love Minako filler episodes.

Sorry Tiff.

My favorite episodes in the first season is a tie between Japanese episodes 45 and 46. Those were the two most beautiful and emotional episodes out of the entire series and very few other anime has managed to recreate that kind of emotional impact. I really cried my eyes out the first time I saw them. It was just so perfect and tragic and even now that I've re-watched those episodes a billion times since then I still get a little teary-eyed whenever I watch them. I can't think of any episodes I hated in the first season since it was my all-time favorite season of Sailor Moon.

Episode 24,without a doubt. I think it is my favorite episode in the entire series.

I jumped into Sailor Moon right at the ending days of the Nephrite story arc, and 24 (in English it's like 19, or something) was one of the first I saw. Even though I didn't really know who these characters were, I felt for them, and that was the episode where I knew that I would enjoy Sailor Moon.

Many years later, I finally got to see the un-cut Japanese version. I had heard so much about how the series was cut and everything, and I was eager to see how my favorite episode was different. To my surprise, it wasnt much different from what I remembered. Was my memory wrong? Then a few months ago, SMU got around to posting the episode 24 comparison...93% intact! O_O
My favorite episode had not been butchered!

Bleh, sorry for the long and rambling post ^^;

The very first episode of Sailor Moon will always hold a special place in my heart, I guess just for sentimental reasons of course.

"Classic" Sailor Moon Series--the original Japanes

Post by SailorMoonFan » Sun Apr 02, 2006 2:16 pm

Hello everyone! This is the first time that I've posted on this board :D

I've been watching the Sailor Moon Dubs for a long, long time for about 9 years already. I've watch all 4 series (been watching a bit of the Stars season--subtitled though). I've never looked at the original Sailor Moon episodes from Japan. So this morning I looked at the first episode in the "Classic" series and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Compared to the DIC dub, I like both versions but maybe the original version a lot more. I've watched it in "subtitles" and the episode is called: "Crybaby Usagi's Magnificent Transformation".

I LOVE the original background music and it fits very well into the show. In my opinion the music seems to be alot more bouncier and fun then in the DIC episode of this film. Now I like the DIC episode but the subtitled one a bit more.

First, everything made sense and it seemed to be a lot more smoother. Like in the beginning of the episode, the "silver crystal" (ginzuishou) is mentioned, unlike in the DIC episode the silver crystal isn't mentioned until later and I remembered that it caused some little confusion to me so I'm glad that it's mentioned here in subtitled one. Queen Beryl mentions the silver crystal and getting energy for their ruler. Luna and Sailor Moon's mission is to fight the evil Dark Kingdom (they don't find out who they are until later) and find the Moon Princess. Luna doesn't mention the Moon Princess in the DIC version. This is what makes me like the original version a tiny bit better.

What I like about the original version of the 1st episode:
*original background music
*certain points such as the Moon Princess & the silver crystal is mentioned that makes the Classic series arc a lot more clearer
*[/i]the theme song at the beginning, MoonLight Densetsu is way better and less "kiddie" then the DIC theme song
*
I like how the story begins. I remember how DIC began trying to explain the plot but I think you can figure it out on your own as you watch the original episodes

Rating out of 10 stars:

Original: 10
DIC: 8 or 9

I would like to discuss this episode with you guys and hopefully throughout the 1st season as I continue watching. Well onto the 2nd episode, which I already know DIC decided not to make which was unfortunate.

The classic series has always been my favorite. It seemed like every character got much more attention than they did compared to other seasons. There was no Ami mania which seemed to happen in later seasons, and there wasn't an over abundance of characters.

Even though the animatoin wasn't the best, I felt that the storyline was the best. I can watch most of the episodes over again while some in the later seasons bore me.

I really can't choose a favorite episode, but the ones I like the best are 3, 6, 20, 24, the one with that fat cat that loved Luna, 33, 35, 42, 44, 45, and 46.

I think episode 46 would have been a good ending to the entire series, but then we wouldn't have Haruka and Michiru.

Classic was a great season. The villains were great, it explained all the backstory. Minako/Venus was really awesome in Classic. It had Evil Endymion which is always great. The ending was absolutely amazing.

I dont think there was a single bad thing about classic other than the fact its in Mono sound (except for R2 but that doesnt have subs)
Favorite Senshi: Saturn and Jupiter
If I had a Henshin phrase it would be: Dragon Master Power! Armor Up!

A shrine without girls is like Miso Soup without the Miso - Grandpa Hino
The human body can be drained of blood in 8 seconds given adequate vaccuuming systems - River - Firefly

Classic was the best season. I've only watched the DUB version though, so I don't think I got as much o it. But anywho, I liked the whole, Nephlite and Molly relationship, I liked Serena the best in this season, she wasn't annoying like in S and Super S, and I liked Mina the best in this one, sh was nice and I just liked her character beter in this season. And, liked said before, the other scouts got more attention in this season.

You can watch the first season in Japanese with subtitles at youtube.com. Just type sailor moon (episode #) In the search box. That's how I saw Classic and R in Japanese. The first season really is much better in japanese.

Classic was amazing. The first episode will always hold a special place in my heart. Besides, Classic has my favorite villian of all time. Queen Beryl!

Nope, the R2 release for the series is in Mono.

Sailor Moon Classic: Dub or Sub?

I plan on getting the Sailor Moon "Classic" Season in subs (subtitled). I've seen a few episodes over the internet. I have watched the dubs over the past 8 or 9 years of this season and I have heard about the cuts and edits that DIC did. I can't wait to get the Classic season in subs so I can see everything and nothing will get cut.

Queen Beryl isn't my favorite villain but she certainly isn't a bad one! One of my favorite villains are the DeathBusters in the "S" season.

Hrmm....I like a lot of episodes from Classic, but my favorite's probably #27, mainly because it's got Urawa-kun, who I adore. :3

.....what?! It's not my fault I find him amusing......
