Favorite Japanese Quote: See sig.

Favorite English quote:

Hmm, tough choice. One that sticks out in my mind is from "Crystal Clear Destiny", when Darien and Serena are riding up the elevator shaft and Zoycite is peering down at them menacingly: "Who cares what Beryl wants. I’m in charge of Tuxedo Mask’s destiny now." Awesome.

^^; sorry, had to get that out of my system.
I don't know about in the anime, but in the manga Luna says repeatedly that "they aren't human" whenever Usagi asks about the enemies. Also, the manga makes it sound like when the Silver Millenium was destroyed, evolution restarted from zero ("evolution restarted from zero" is almost an exact translation of the line from French, actually) so those people would be different species. This line is also interesting to me because it places the Silver Millenium at least five billion years ago.

But again, I don't know if this applies to the anime at all.

Uh...they're FROM Earth. They were Endymion's gaurdians. Now, if you're saying that the people who lived on the moon were a different species, then I don' tknow. I read the manga years ago, and couldn't tell you what was said. But last I checked, people from earth were human.

I'm gathering that when Luna says "they aren't human" in regard to the enemy, she means that they are NO LONGER human...as in, they have become something more of a monster. I'm interpreting that completely differently. I'm interpreting that as meaning since they are now under Metallia/Beryl's influence, that they are no longer human.

But again...I was referring to the anime. Not the manga.

Some of this may just be down to issues of translation. It struck me as odd that at various times the Dark Kingdom referred to humans as if they were a separate species: ie "The humans do such and such". I get the impression that they're simply referring to human society (it could equally be translated as "the people do such and such").

I think Luna's line about the enemy not being human might be in the first episode... but this is understandable, as she's referring to Youma rather than Beryl and her generals (who Luna probably doesn't even remember at that point).
Amazoness! Because men seldom make passes at girls who routinely kill men.

I know you were referring to the anime, which is why I kept saying "I don't know if this is true for the anime or not."

But in the manga, I really don't think they're human. It says "evolution restarted from zero" with a picture of the earth -- and if they were talking about the moon, evolution wouldn't have *restarted* at all.

I think the implication is that the ones who lived on the Earth while the Silver Millennium was in its golden age were a different species because the battle with Queen Beryl and Saturn bringing down her glaive (?? I totally didn't understand S very well, so correct me if I'm wrong) destroyed Earth as well as the Moon.

But uhh . . . </offtopic> MY FAVOURITE QUOTE IS WHEN SAILOR MOON SAYS THAT FUNNY THING THAT SHE SAID WHEN SHE WAS SAYING STUFF. yes.

According to Alex Glover - who had done the translations from the original manga as well as the revamped "Pretty Guardian" versions - the line is translated as "...Earth went through its evolution once more from the beginning," suggesting that whatever the earth had gone through before happened AGAIN. There's no indication anywhere that the Shitennou were reborn as anything but humans, while the rest of the population of earth would maintain their humanity. Indeed, the only time anyone ever says anything about the enemy "not being human" is 1) when Luna makes mention of it after Usagi destroys the first youma, and 2) when Usagi is recounting her adventures to the reader, and says her enemies "don't seem human"; it's probably best to take this last comment as nothing more than hyperbole, as other students call Ami "not human" when they hear she has a 300 IQ.

I liked Usagi's little speech during the end of the SMR movie when she said "I won't leave anyone alone ever again!" Simple yet powerful.

My favorite quote is from the episode "A Bright Shooting Star! Saturn, and the Messiah".

Here it is:
Usagi- "If you have just a little bit of courage people can really be soldiers. If you have feelings for other people anyone can become a messiah. No matter how much you change, please don't forget that there are people who care for you. I'll make sure to save you."
Beautiful.

My favorite dub quote would be in Day of Destiny.

"That's so sweet, I'm getting cavities!" Beryl.

Even though it's a bit out of character that line always cracks me up.

And from the Sailor Says from episode 39 Past Returns.

"Beryl did a terrible thing when she destroyed the Moon Kingdom"- Serena.

Most hilarious quote ever!

Quote from Sailor Stars (Japanese)

Post by SailorMoonFan » Sat Jun 17, 2006 3:33 pm

One of my favorite exchanges between Sailor Uranus & Neptune is in Sailor Stars in the first episode of the end of the Nehelenia arc:

Neptune: You're getting heavy I think you've been eating too many sweets
Uranus: I don't listen to that kind of talk outside of bed

In the dub we don't hear these sexual innuendos but the exchanges between the 2 in the dub are still good but by having those kinds of exchanges it reveals Uranus & Neptune's character a bit more and adds some humor & fun into the episode as well. There was also another exchange between the 2 when we first meet the 2 in the first episode of Sailor Stars when they are at the aquarium looking at the fish. I forgot the gist of the exchange but it was very funny. Sailor Stars has a great number of Uranus & Neptune exchanges.

Sailor Stars

Post by SailorMoonFan » Mon Jun 19, 2006 6:40 pm

Sailor Stars has lots of excellent dialogue between the characters. In Episode 189 of Sailor Stars, we see both Sailor Tin Nyanko & Sailor Lead Crow together and near the end this is the exchange we hear between both when they escape from the Sailor Soldiers and go into the telephone booth.

Sailor Tin Nyanko: We'd better retreat for a while!
Sailor Lead Crow: It's your fault!
Lead Crow: Squeeze in!
Tin Nyanko: Your butt is too big! Why don't you go on a diet?
Lead Crow: You should do something about your chest!

I love the voice actress who plays Sailor Tin Nyanko. Actually I enjoy ALL of the voices of the original Sailor Moon series. When I first watched the series in Japanese it took me a while to get use to them.

One of my favorites dub lines is when they find out that Ami isn't part of the Dark Kingdom

Usagi: What do I do now Felinstein

Luna: Wing it!?

She Shall Bring Light Upon The World Once More
And Placed Upon A Crystal Throne
