Usagi's hair

Post by SeiUsa » Sat Jul 30, 2005 9:58 pm

Has anyone ever tried Usagi's hairstyle? I did and it's pretty damn impossible (for me, anyway). And is it possible to try Chibiusa's hairstyle? (I won't even ask about ChibiChibi's)

I had a really old link to a site that gave instructions on how to do Usagi's, Chibiusa's, and even Chibi Chibi's hairstyle, but the site doesn't seem to have it anymore. I remember that for the hair styles it takes something like a minimum of three feet of hair to do. For Chibi Chibi's I think they said that you need to use lots of rubber bands to get the heart shape.

Haven't actually seen anyone style their natural hair like Chibiusa's or Chibi Chibi though.

Actually, there's an old tutorial on how to do it over at SOS. No clue if their server is still up though.

I saw a better tutorial over in the depths of www.three-lights.net. It's in Japanese though, but it showed you how to do Usagi's hairstyle from PGSM.

Basically you put your hair in pigtails, split each of the pigtails in half. Then you braid one of the halfs on each pigtail and tie them off. Then you wrap the other halves of the pigtails with braids and secure it with another hairtie. I recommend using gel or hairspray so you don't get pieces of hair sticking out from the dango. Does that make sense?

I've done my hair like Usagi a few times.
I tend to do my hair how RoastedTwinkies discribed to do the hair it's much easier. I found that how SOS has discribied it made my shoter then it was ( hip lenght to just touching my shoulder's 0_O)

He he, yeah she looks like she puffed the magic dragon. Puffed it hard. Although you'd probably have to get a great deal of smack into you if you were going to associate with SOS without going insane.

I've done it, and read both the page peachvampiress mentioned and the SOS page...I think I ended up using the SOS guidelines, tho, because they were a little easier to understand (0_o;;). That method *does* shorten your hair quite a bit (went from my lower back, to just touching the middle of my shoulderblades) because you have to put your pigtails really high up, so you do need a lot of hair. The page peachvampiress mentioned (which I no longer have a link for, either) says that to do Chibichibi's hairstyle, you have to have four pigtails (two on each side, really close together) and then you kind of 'disguise' them by wrapping hair around them. I never tried that one, tho.

I'm assuming that this'll only work well if you have straight hair. Is that right?

It probably works *best* if you have straight hair. My hair's fairly straight, so I wouldn't know. But I think if you have curly hair, there might be a problem making the dangos look smooth/round. Chibichibi's hair is curly...sort of! If your hair's long enough, it's not that hard to do, but straight hair would probably be easiest and would look the best/most similar. But the only way to be sure is to try it.

Straight hair does look better but if you have ton's of gel and ahir spray then crul and wavey hair can look just as good as thoese wiht straight hair.
( for the record I've got wavey hair and useing gel and haor spray work's wonder's for keeping the style)

I've never tried doing Usagi's odango hair with my own hair, my hair's never been long enough to try. I tried to do it on a wig when I was 10, as part of my Sailor Moon Halloween costume, but the odango's kept falling out. -_-
