Sailor Moon-En Espanol - or Italian... Whatever

Post by Luna1986 » Thu Jul 28, 2005 11:11 pm

All of our favorite Japanese melodies can now be heard in Spanish, or something. I love how you get the feeling that someone set up a karaoke machine in a Mexican bar and let the costumers go to town.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

yeah, it didn't quite sound Spanish, I'm no good with languages. I didn't know SM was in Italy and that they have their own versions of the Jap songs. Do other countries have ones to, that are accessible online?

Yeah, Italy definitely has their own dub of sailor moon. In fact, plenty of countries do...Mexico, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Brazil, China, Korea, France, Germany...

You can get more info about SM around the world here:

I don't know which websites have these siongs..I myself found all of the german themes, chinese theme, Italian themes, and mexican theme back when I had a file-sharing program.

I love the Spanish version of Moonlight Densetsu. I'll listen to those Italian ones later.

i heard the German version too, but don't like it at all... I like the English songs from one of the German CDs though. They're repetitive yet cacthy with a techno-ish beat.

yeah, I've heard of some of the things other countries have done to the show. I heard that in France a doctor told someone involved with the show that the starlights were turning boys who watched the show gay and as a result, midway through Stars, the starlights were no longer transgenderal but called thier three sisters to fight for them in battle. I heard that, I'm not sure if its true but wouldn't doubt it, crazy French.

It wasn't in France, it was in Italy. I don't even think France got SailorStars.

Hey, don't worry. I'm just jokin' around with the crazy french thing. But I understand that it could be taken the wrong way so I watch myself.

It was in Italy, that's right. Thanks

I heard the Spanish dub was decent, except they changed Zoisite to a woman. But they got better along the way. They left Uranus and Neptune lesbians, and everyone elses genders and sexual preferences the same. they dubbed all 200 episodes too

T_T you were thinking about me, right ? Ah, thanks. *cough*

I can debunk the message, though. :)

1) We never got Sailor Stars. And, given the opinion I *think* many people have about the series, pigs will fly before a company even decides to think about it.

2) The only crazy stuff that happened was with the dub, of course. 8 people or something for ALL voices (Luna with Jupiter's Voice... or was that Beryl with Luna's voice ? No, wait... Jupiter IS Beryl! GAAAAAAAH!) . I read later on that it was a simple money issue. Dubbing in France is better now... (if you don't count on the "CCS Opening Song Disaster" on a channel... my mind still hurts when thinking of this).

So, to answer the question about "Is there any dub that's better than the other?" I'd think... maybe the German dub.

Cause THEY got Stars.

Wow, eight people for all the voices! I always hated shows that did that when I was a kid 'cause I couldn't figure out who was who sometimes. I'd think of someone talking and who they were but I couldn't distinguish who was who, very confusing.

Hi, I'm French too so I can tell you some things about the french dub.
Yes there were only 8 people doing the dub, but some were really good. They were naturally forced to change their woices depending on what character they were dubbing, and sometimes it was a little crappy :?
The main problem with the dub is the fact that they changed a lot of things: Haruka is a man when she's not transformed (there is a male voice actor for Haruka and a female voice actress for Sailor Uranus :x ), Zoicite and Kunzite are brothers...
We never got Sailor Stars.

Brothers?! O_O;;
That's even worse than Uranus and Neptune being cousins!

Hi! I'm italian ^_^ i can tell you something about our dub... it's great! I mean... i love all the voices (especially the Usagi one... it's sooooo perfect for Usagi)! Too bad that they changed very often, for example, Makoto, Setsuna, Haruka and Michiru voices changed after season four, Rei's one after the first one -.- and her voice was given to Michiru after.
The translation unfortunately is bad, a lot of simple lines like "I'm going to die soon" became "i'm not ok recently" (and the long lines... the sense of the them was more or less always kept, but a lot of words were invented).
The names ALL changed (except for some... like Himeko and Kakeru in the S Movie or Peruru in the SS one and of course, Fiore, Luna, Artemis...)
Some of the attacks were invented (like World Shaking became "Bomba di Urano - Uranus Bomb") and at the end of them they always said "azione!" (action!).
The music is the original one, except for the songs in which there were japanese words, which were completely removed (the scene in the R movie where in the original there is "Moon Revenge" is without music and it's soo strange).
The opening changes for all the seasons, but i love them, they have a lovely melody (you can listen - watch them here ) *_*
All the episodes were dubbed (except for the 89 and the SS specials).
The cuts... well, i don't think u'll understand but they are written here, some scenes before the title were cut, or scenes where were shown japanese words... and in Stars season's reruns the "sex metamorphosis" scene when the StarLights transformed, has been covered with the face of the one which was trasforming. Episode 200 was heavily edited to cover Usagi's naked body.
Zoisite is a woman and she's Kunzite's lover. Haruka is a woman (and her voice is sooo perfect for her charachter - but they changed it after ç_ç ) and she's just a "good friend" for Michiru. Fish eye is a woman.
The movies were all divided in 3/4 parts and aired like simple episodes, and not in the right order (the first movie was aired after the S season, for example).

But there is a second dub of Sailor Moon, perfectly done, no cuts, great voices, excellent translation, original names/ attacks/ transformations. It was relased in the first movie dvd (but unfortunately the video was interlaced and compressed, and the first dub's track was bad).

Sorry for the grammar mistakes! ^_^
