About Super S: is it really THAT bad?

At least you have all of superS for me I kept searching for superS until i got it all dubbed in cantonese =P but yeah. I liked the beginning though. It was pretty good in the beginning. I guess it's because i'm biased. I used to like the inners more. But as i learned more about sailormoon and as I watched superS and stars. I began liking the outers a lot more. And I got really pissed when I found out the manga had the outers appear in superS and in stars they were the main characters. Not just ppl that made some appearences. But I guess what's done is done. Of course I'd love to see more of the outers if possible. When I heard they were gonna remake sailormoon I was happy but then I found out they were remaking sailormoon in live action =P and then i was thinking...ehh okay not so cool. I like the last few eps of superS the most. I liked how it didn't focus on sailormoon though. Stars was a good season just oculd have been done a lot better imo but that's because i'm critical. =P I think after they had the outers. I didn't really wanna see anymore sailor soldiers cuz in stars THEY'RE all sailor soldiers and that really got annoying but like i said i'm picky =P

I'm about halfway thruogh the series (I hate trying to track down these DVDs) and I don't think SuperS is that bad. At the beginnig it's kind of slow with the Amazon Trio just doing the same stuff day after day. But now that the Amazoness Quartet has shown up, the pace is picking up. The series is hillarious(Usagi the ninja XD) but I wish Haruka and Michiru were around for the madness. This is probably the best group of villans that I've seen, they have really nice group dynamic. And love Fish-Eye, Tiger-Eye, and the Quartet. The Quartet reminds me of the Witches 5 a little, another reason they're great.

Heh, actually SuperS is my favourite season... I'm one of those odd people who prefer the filler episodes.

I love SuperS. It has pretty colors, nice animation, and it has the most cute Sailormoon character ever - Diana!
I actually like all of the Sailormoon series'. I've tried to rank them before, but they're all very different. Too different to be ranked.

I always find it mind-boggling how people bash it so much when, in a large scale of anime, there is much worse material out there to complain about.

I am going to try and order the SuperS series very soon, if I can find it. I'm excited about it cuz I just finished S and I'm so anxious to watch more!

I am new to this forum and did a search for threads related to discussing opinons on the S series, but didn't exactly find one... I'm just dying to know what people thought of it! I really loved it <3

anyways, to relate to this thread, I will say the artwork I've seen from SuperS is GORGEOUS and I'm very much looking forward to watching it! I saw the first two seasons on cartoon network when I was in highschool and have been dying to see the last 3 since then... in college I could not afford to buy any of the seasons so it has been a long wait!

I don't think SuperS was cancelled. It was Stars that wasn't allowed in America.

To me, SuperS was my least favorite season, but by no means do I hate it. It just didn't have the exceptional storyline that the other seasons had. Each episode was pretty much self-contained, and rarely crossed over into the next. The 4 scouts were background characters, with ChibiUsa as the main character throughout the series. I like ChibiUsa, but NOT as the MAIN character throughout an entire season. Plus, there were no outer scouts in it. For me, it was a letdown that Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto weren't even mentioned, let alone shown. I felt the SuperS season was the most kiddieized season of the 5. But I did enjoy the Amazon Trio and the Amazoness Quartet. They were the most interesting thing about the whole season

One thing I disliked about SuperS is that you know who Pegasus is hiding in, and they can't have badguys get it right away, so watching the Filler is even more pointless than other filler because you already know the badguy will fail (in most episodes there's always the thought "hey maybe the badguys will actually succeed at something this time")

That's something I've thought about to. I mean, you'd think the enemies, or even the senshi would kind of figure out that "Hey, the pink spore seems to be able to summon Pegasus at anytime, maybe, just maaaaaaybe she knows who, what, and where the Hell he is".

I didn't hate it completely, I thought it was pretty....well....stupid in a way. Alright, I'll admit I don't hate Chibiusa entirely, but I had too much of her here. The point where she's chucked off the building made me smile for the change of scenery ^^. I loved the amazon quartet though, man they rocked. Palla Palla was my favorite. I loved how imature she was. You know what I disliked the most about the season? I'm a huge outer senshi fan. When I didn't see Haruka and Michiru running around when I popped in the third disk I was beginning to get pretty angry. I mean, they didn't even MENTION one outer senshi. If you ask me, when all of this pegasus crap was going on one person would have said "Where are the outer senshi? We need to work together!" or something. It was like they never existed.

There were some pretty sucky episodes, but I have to admit when Diana was found I perked up a bit. It was so funny when Luna smacked Artemis!

However, people have told me that the manga for Super S has the outer senshi and is the best issues in the manga series. I'll give it a shot I suppose and get back to you.

In defense of this season, I have to say it has awsome music. I loved it.

I have two questions after reading a little of this thread... I've never seen SuperS yet or read the manga.

Is the plot in the manga for superS completely different than the plotline in the anime, or just slightly? (tryin to decide if i need to hunt down the manga somehow and buy it...)

and Does it get explained why there is a lack of outer senshi? are they mentioned at all? I'd think it's fine if they sort of explain where they went, why they're gone, etc, instead of pretending they never existed...

..just curious about these things... =)

SuperS doesnt explain anything but you can make some assumptions based on the last bunch of eps from S
Pluto broke the ultimate taboo (stopping time) and disappeared
Saturn got reborn as a baby and lives with her father
Neptune and Uranus are the ones that are a bit sketchy, I assume they just went to take a long vacation after the events in S, and since no one really knows them, they didnt know how to get a hold of them

Actually, that's what the Haruka and Michiru SuperS special is for, so far as I know (I haven't seen it, just screenshots). And in the manga it says they traveled all over the world, so what you said makes sense too.

In my opinion the Sailor Moon SS season wasn't that bad! I watched the dubbed season but I do intend to see the original version of this season soon though. Sailor Moon SS was more of a "fun" season and I liked how this season had a cliffhanger leaving us wondering what will happen and will Queen Neherenia come out of that seal of darkness. The real battle doesn't start until the first 6 episodes of Sailor Stars come.

For me this season had a lot of humor and fun. Basically this season revolves around Chibi-usa and this is probably one of the reasons why this season is disliked and not taken that well with SM fans. After watching the Sailor Moon S season (which is the best season of all time) I guess SM fans expected something to top it or reach up to the level of the S season.

I tend to fall on and off the SuperS train, but right now I'm definitely "on."

This season had a lot of "filler," but it's not as bad as it sounds. Most episodes develop the relationship between Chibusa and Pegasus, or they are very funny. I also think that this is an impressive season stylistically, with all of Kunihiko Ikuhara's weirdness (that circus tent is downright bizarre). The plot is executed really unconventionally, and the Chibiusa becomes a really likeable character. There are many sweet scenes.

The way Nehelenia was explained was weird, with only hints and clues given until the end, and the final episode was very different, and I liked it. Instead of blasting the hell out of the final villain, talking, talking, choking, and falling was a nice change of place. Episode 166 had a surreal sense about it.

I only wish that, when Sailor Moon was falling, she had transformed into Eternal Sailor Moon (that way she could have flown herself and Chibimoon to safety). I think that would have been a very neat thing and would have eliminated the need to bring back Nehelenia and ruin her character with some emo story about wanting to have a story read to her.

Super S was my favorite until I saw Stars... Of course, I'm a Chibi-Usa lover.

There's a reason I haven't read any of the manga and won't until I've seen every episode of Sailor Moon. they're to damn different and I refuse to compare them. I like to think of them as two different things, it makes it easier to like each of them for what they are and not what they could be.

(For instince, I don't like the fact that Chibi-Usa is 900 years old in the manga, but in the anime I don't like how Haruka and Michiru arn't around for SuperS.... there are certain things I love about both.)

Oh, I also think it may have gotten cancelled because of SuperS. Sure Stars would have been an bitch to dub but they would have found a way. Super S is just one of the more boring seasons as far as action goes and at 4 in the afternoon thats what the 10 year old are looking for (I remember...)
