Constantly hearing about Stars reminds me of a time when the Sailor Moon seasons were actually about Sailor Moon herself, and when she wasn't reduced to appearing in the middle and ends of a season to move the plot along.

The last good season was R IMO.

I just don't have the money right now =\

Also, I prefer subtitles.

Oh well, I still have a tiny bit of hope for Stars here.

Sure I will. But before I do could you lend me the money, teach me Japanese and get my DVD player to play R2's? I think it's ridiculous, and rude, to tell people who want a subtitled DVD release of Stars in the States to stop crying and buy the Japanese DVD's for the reasons stated. You can hack your DVD player to play R2 but I'm not technnologically inclined enough to attempt that. I could get a R2 DVD player but their is that whole money issue thing again. Even if I had the money and the player I don't know Japanese. Granted I could get the gist of what's going on but I don't want to spend a bunch of money to get just the gist of what is going on.

Woah, woah.. I was just joking. No need to get so defense. :?

And besides, it's not like there IN'ST a way to get Stars subtitled in the US. Bootlegs are always popping up on Ebay, and VKLL has all of Stars up on bittorent.

My apologies then. I find it hard to tell when somebody is joking on-line especially if I don't know them. That post came off more harshly then I meant too also. I find internet talk limiting since you lose out on voice and gestures and thus I find it hard to communicate. That's not much of an excuse though and I am trying to get better at it. Bootlegs tend to be poor quality so I'm not interested and don't have the space on my computer to put an enitre season of Sailor Moon on it. Apologies once again.

Although, some money in the pocket to get more anime will help to smooth thinks over for sure.
:P

You can go here and get DVD Region+CSS Free or DVDIdle Pro for $25-50.

As for the DVD's... CD Japan is a good start. About $40 per disc but they have a high episode count per disc. Which is quite excellent compared to most other JP anime DVDs. Though shipping is the real killer here.

As for subs, there's DVD Subber, but you'll need scripts to go with that. I was working on that, but I got sidetracked at around episode 6 and haven't worked on it since. Maybe I should get back to that...

Ultimately, it's a battle of your patience vs. your pocketbook in the end.

I didn't think that the bootleg for Stars was too bad. It just missed a few lines, and the menu for it wasn't that great but I thought it was fine for a bootleg. If I remember there was a site that allowed you to watch the episodes, subbed. PrincessSerenity.net? I think...I'm not sure. Anywayz, I'm not sure if I understood...Geneon/Pioneer lost their license for the S and Super S season?

Question 1: AnimeSuki.com has 'em.

Question 2: Possibly but not confirmed. If not already, soon.

Thanks, Aya. How easy is that DVD subber to use and how good is the documentation? My pocketbook is winning at the moment (I just got a new video card and sound system for my computer and the 7th volume of GitS is out with a limited edition).
I could get the redone Sailor Moon manga in the meantime. Those are relatively cheap. Somewhere on this site someone wondered what the whole 2nd edition was about. Second editions of books correct mistakes that were in the first printing.

American companies losing Sailor Moon rights

Post by corza-chan » Fri Feb 17, 2006 4:47 am

well, i found out that this was not only Toei's decision. Apparently Naoko Takeuchi (the original manga author) had a sook and said that the dubs ruined the series... so there is no chance that Stars will ever be dubbed - End of story

Since Toei holds the rights to the show, however, it's their decision - and not Naoko's - whether or not Stars gets brought over to the US.

Naoko ALSO wasn't fond of the original anime. She didn't like a lot of the changes Toei made. So it wasn't like she was too thrilled with that, either. Besides, like Starscream said..it's not up to her at all.

Yeah I agree with you That's what I heard too She didn't like a lot of the changes Toei made. LIke in SuperS they completely changed her manga storyline around. Eliminating the outers and stuff. Then in Stars when they made Starlights transexual they weren't too fond of that either. But yeah it's not her decision. In some way sailormoon itself probably should be re-made in anime. Especially SuperS that was the worst season of them all. I liked the outers but when they cut them out that sucked and so did stars heh..

Transexual wouldn't really be accurate. In the anime, the starlights ARE females..but they disguise themselves magically as males. They don't go through sex change operations.

lol erm i meant they were disguising as men =P But I heard she wasn't happy with that part because in the manga she never made them disguise as men at all that they were women. I wish they would have a re-release though in which all the episodes are re-dubbed and stuff =)

Wow, that was completely out of the blue, wasn't it?

To get back on this here topic, I agree with many.
Yes, it would be nice to see a professionally done dub of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, but it's going to take quite some time.
If ever.

If you ask me, by the time we somehow get the liscence for Stars, it'll be so outdated and not as..what's the word..clean as the newer anime being released that most interest for Stars would be long dissolved.
