The only things I remember from the dub that I preferred were musical. My Only Love was a MUCH better song for the situation in my opinion. In the Japanese version I never really felt much emotion from the song that played. But My Only Love made me cry during the scene, even though my stomach was still feeling queesy from the voice-acting that i didn't like.

While I thought My Only Love was the weak link in the dub's music (with lyrics) most of the other songs with lyrics were superior to their Japanese counterparts. The only exception to this is Ai no Senshi, which slightly better than "Who Do You Think You Are?" (and I have no idea what song they used for the dub of "Protect Chibi-Usa...", since I never saw the episode). As for the Henshin music, it really depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Sometimes, I prefer the original, sometimes I prefer the dub. The only exception is with Sailor Moon's henshin music, where I prefer the dub.

I'm suprised no one mentioned the battle where they used "The Power of Love", I think it was the end of R... I like that song despite all its cheesiness ^^;;

And Rainy Day Man, and My Only Love *sigh*

Otherwise, I absolutely despise everything about the dub...

While Ai no Senshi was played in Episode 89 (Who Do You Think You Are played in the dub version), it first played in Episode 68 "Protect Chibiusa! Clash of the 10 Warriors", where "She's Got the Power" is the dub counterpart.

It depends on situations if I like henshin musics better. For example, in the episode where the Silver Crystal appears, I prefer the dub. But in Episode 45, I prefer the original.

I also like most of the English VAs in the DiC dub (with exceptions of Luna, Molly, etc) compared to the original.

I also love My Only Love and prefer it over Maroboshi no Ginzuishou, but I like Ai no Senshi over She's Got the Power. Etc, etc, etc...

I actually DID mention Power of Love o.O I said it made me cry during that scene, though I should have specified. I meant during the scenes at the end of the R movie.

I actually perferred La Solider to The Power of Love.

Rattleman - Thanks for that. I hate She's Got the Power. Ai No Senshi definately wins that one.

You mean Moon Revenge? I think that was the one in the R movie... isn't La Soldier from the musical? :?

and actually, Syon, when I was talking about Power of Love I meant it as it was used in the final episode of R the series. I've never seen the R movie dubbed, only the original... did they use it there also? :shock:

Moon Revenge was played in the R movie. It was replaced in the English dub with Power of Love.

La Soldier is from the musicals, but it was also played during episode 88 "Hikari to Yami no Saishuukessen! Mirai he Chikau Ai" (dub episode 81, "Final Battle"), the final showdown with Wise Man in the R season. It was also replaced with Power of Love in the English dub.

Ai no Senshi was played in episode 68 "Chibiusa wo Mamore! 10 Senshi no Daigekisen" (dub episode 61, "Naughty N' Nice"), during the fight to protect Chibiusa. It was replaced in the English version by DiC background music, and She's Got the Power.

All of you confused me so much I had to check my dub tapes again. I had managed to forget how the first dub VA of Chibiusa sounded, damn it! x_X

Teehee, I can speak of my dub too, right ?

Well, everything in the original was better. We only had eight people do ALL the voices (sure, they were on a tight budget, but still :P ). The only American dub song I heard was "My Only Love" and I liked it "as is", but in the "dub" video I saw, I prefered the original song :P .

I love Jupiter's voice, it had a nice tough 'n' tomboyish sound to it and still made her sound a bit feminine.

And the Power of Love. I love the nice piano solo (or whatever instrument it was) at the beginning when she turns into Serenity. And then that part where they show the other scouts crouching down and it does that thing where the camera goes back to front and there's a lyric that says, "It's a chain reaction." I dunno, it just seems to fit nicely IMPO. And then there's, "WE are Planet Power!" That's just cool to me :P

...And the quote I chose for my sig. I often use it in real life when someone says something like "You work too hard, it's bad."

Stephanie Beard as Rini. An excellant voice. Kae Araki's Chibi-usa was disappointing after hearing the second Rini.

I too liked some of the dub music better than the original. I thought that the henshin music in the r series (the more mellow singing sounding version) was boring but the more upbeat one (like in the S movie) was way better!

I have to say I liked alot of the lines in the 'Lost Episodes' compared to the Japanese version.

One of my favorites..

...I broke out my R DVDs for no particular reason..and got to the Makoto episode with her childhood friend...the "Rainy Day Man" episode.

And I gotta say...after hearing the song they use in the original version....I think Rainy Day Man fit better. I can't stand either song..both the original and RDM grate on my nerves..but if I had to pick one, it'd be RDM.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

What was the song? I haven't seen Classic and R subbed yet ;_;

The song from that scene would be Anata no Sei Janai, Makoto's first image song.

I agree! I like RDM, but I thought the original song was pretty dry.

While her DIC voice was the worst, even Kae didn't actually convey what the character was: a total innocent, who could make blunt observations out of sheer naivete. In the Japanese, she came off as someone who knew what she was talking about when she was insulting Usagi.
that's because i percieved Rini to be somewhat like her mother but at the same time a little wiser because she was raised better in the future because Usagi had matured more when she became queen. I think that Rini was supposed to be yes naive, but somewhat a sassy girl who likes to do what she wants whenever. But of course I like her and all---that's just my opinion
