Does R really stand for Romance?

Post by Luchia Nanami » Thu Oct 30, 2003 11:42 am

Cause um..there was next to none.

Sure the baddies hit on their superiors but they all got shot down.

Chibi-USA hit on Mamoru with little to no romantic effect.

Usagi and Mamoru were broken up for at least half the season. (They were more romantic in the "filler" arc at the start!)

None of the inners got guys. (Ami's & Rei's were forgotten.)

Either I'm not seeing it or there really isn't any. Maybe it just doesn't stand for Romance. How about Return? Or Relish?..er no. So is it just a fan thing or does it really stand for something?

It's a fan thing. There is no proof that it stands for Romance. Most people believe it stands for that or Returns.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

From Dies Gaudii:

According to the Bishojo Senshi Sera Mun Memorial Song Box booklet, the “R” stands for “Romance, Rondo, Return, etc.”

I guess I just always assumed the Romance was referring to...
how Usagi and Mamoru broke up and there was a lot of angst over it and eventually they got back together and then it showed them in the future with their daughter and all that...
Rondo? Isn't that a type of music?

I think the whole series should just be called "Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon" and leave it at that. That way we avoid confusion. :P

That sounds like BSSMR.

Insane Theory: Maybe the R stands for Rini...except for the fact that she doesn't show up until the 14th episode of this season, and that her name is Chibi-Usa in the original...okay, maybe not...
"Return" or "Romance" sounds like the best guess... Both story arcs had some romance to them...The Doom Tree episodes had Usagi and Natsumi/En/Anne both trying to get Mamoru's attention, and the Chibi-Usa story had Usagi and Mamoru's breakup, so I'd say that justifies the R for Romance theory (even if the romantic story development is very light in some episodes).

Personally since there are two parts, I think of the first half Returns since Usagi returns, and the second half Romance
since we find out Chibiusa is Usagi and Mamoru's child.
But that's me.

Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....

Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!

That 15+ is a gross overexaggeration of the content of Sailor Moon. It's 10+ at best, 13+ at worst.
