Will she show?

Post by sailormelvin » Wed Oct 29, 2003 8:58 pm

I was wondering whether you guys think Sailor Moon will make VH1's upcoming pop culture show I love the 90s show, me personally i'm sure it will because for a while it was really popular with elementry kids cause i was in elementry school back then so i should know!

I hope they do. I'm not exactly sure how popular it was. I mean, it was popular enough to be mentioned in "One Week" by Bare Naked Ladies. So ... ::crosses fingers::

I know one anime that has a good chance of being mentioned; DragonBall Z.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

I kind of doubt Sailor Moon or Dragonball Z will be apart of. Both of those series' popularity has died down over the years. Sailor Moon hasn't been on tv any at all, and as far as I know, the only people who're still watching Dragonball Z are either the diehard fans or the people who think it's the best anime of all time and everything else sucks. If any anime gets mentioned, it'll probably be some of the more recent anime, like maybe Cowboy Bebop, Rurouni Kenshin, or heck, maybe even Yugioh.

I can't find my way anymore. And I cannot heal the wounds I've created. I can't let let go of whats killing me
Falling from this edge, I am lost to all I know
I can't breathe anymore Somehow I'm locked inside this cage And I've tried, but I cant Fight to stay alive

But isn't this a show about things that were popular in the 90s?

I don't watch MTV but I'd say that it does have a chance. SM had good runs in syndication and became popular even before it moved on to CN. After that it got pretty big! Besides they have to mention some kind of girl series!

He said VH1.

I'd imagine Pokemon would be mentioned, at least...
"Tell my tale to those who ask... tell it truthfully, the ill deeds along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest... is silence..." last words of Dinobot, "Code of Hero"
"Is that a poisonous elephant in your pocket or are you happy to see me?" ~another forum
"Monster! I''''m going to collide with you indefinitely as my limbs flail wildly about!" ~NPC, Dragon Warrior VII
"I bet you were thinking how hot it would be to see Tsunade with her gates wide open, inviting you..." ~DuneMan
"To use gaming terms, Tyrannosaurus Rex was a camper--- and he pwned his prey!" ~BaronVonAwesome
"I prefer to beat my opponents the old-fashioned way: brutally!" ~Dinobot

I was just watching I Love the 80's a few days ago and the mentioned Rainbow Bright. I'd like to think that Sailor Moon was at least as popular in the 90's as Rainbow Bright was in the 80's.

I just hope they mention some anime besides for Pokemon. Maybe they can talk about the growing fandom of anime and show some clips of series that were popular on video and DVD like Cowboy Bebop or Evangelion. Well have to wait until I Love the 00's for Adult Swim to be mentioned.

Sailor Moon should make the list, or it will make I Love the 90s Strikes Back (which will probably get made). Especially since it lasted for several years. Dragonball Z will probably be mentioned, and Pokemon will definetely get mentioned. Actually, it'll probably mention Pokemon, and say that it cleared the way for other Japanese cartoons such as Sailor Moon and Dragonball Z. Even though it didn't.

I really hope they do atleaste mention it.
The mentioned Thundercats in "I love the 80's : Strkies Back - 87".
::riverdances and jigs:: I love the thundercats. And if thatgot mentioned, I'm sure that Sailormoon could have a fighting chance. But Pokemon will most likely be mentioned. Pokemon slipped my mind ^^;

 I don't want them to talk about anime... at all. I'm 99% sure they'll mention Pokemon. But they'll just have people talking about how they wanted to bang "Serena" and such, why would anyone want that?

Because of the recognition. I'd love to hear them speak about Sailor Moon, even if its all wrong and is full of stupid comments. At least they've acknowledged it.

They're technically not wrong. They're going to cover the american version, so the dub names will be correct. I may not like the dub, but I don't get upset when people talk about it. I want them to discuss Sailor Moon. I'd love it if at least one of the people knew about the original, but that probably won't happen. So I'll be content with what I can get.

Personally, I'd prefer that Sailor Moon died out completely in the US rather than have the dub be popular.

jeff... that's cold, i hate the dub as much as you do but sailormoon shouldn't just "die out" like previous animes did. I think the original sailormoon should get it's own network or at least a time slot on adult swim. (the irony of cn getting sm again) but i'm not holding my breath.
... i dunno what to say, i''m sorry
