Well the seller has recieved another e-mail from me asking some more questions and if I find anything suspicious I can gladly withdraw my payment. I just find it hard to believe that anybody would take the time to do this boxsets as nice as these are and expect to make a considerable profit in return.

I'm still happy to have been able to see STARS though :D

EDIT: Yep the copies are bootleg. As I said in the "Perfect Collection" thread though, I'm not that upset anymore. If this is the only way I can access my favorite show from kid-dom, I'll be fine :D (and plus the teenage pocket book is not that big to boot, haha).

Check the seller's rating and comments and see if they're a professional seller or just someone trying to unload a set they're done with. Nothing wrong with the latter, if they've got a good rating.

As for direct Amazon sales, I'm sure they ran out of stock long ago and since Geneon isn't releasing any more, no hope for replenishment.
Well I think I might just buy the boxset instead of buying them seperately(even though I already have 2 of them) because I've heard that the geneon disks are just red and plain and dont even have a reversable cover so...

I followed your advise Sailorasteroid, and in amazon, there is only 1 seller for the boxset :( and the seller has a 89% positive ratings(is that good enough?), and it costs $77.55, im just iffy about the ratings but I really want it before its gone, so I have some thinking to do. Thanks for your help though. :)

Probably because they're rips from the R2 DVDs.
and the audio on the Japanese version is better than on the ADV set.
Because Toei remastered the series for the R2 release only. Toei gave ADV whatever they felt like giving them (which was nearly trash).

Thanks Aya Reiko for the information. I'm definitely more wise on the subject now. When I think back to purchasing the boxsets I remember reading "Region free" and going "hrm...thats not correct". But anyway, as I definitely do not have the money to buy the real thing (I just saw all 14 DVDS for R on ebay going for $450) I'm just going to have be happy with what I have.

Before Geneon/Pioneer released the thin pack boxsets was there a boxset for the normal sized dvds?

Merging with the stickied topic about acquiring SM DVDs.

To answer the question, no, the only official box sets from Pioneer/Geneon came with the thin-packed versions.

None of the R2 Sailor Moon DVDs have subtitles.

Ami-chan no Hatsukoi

does anyone know where you could acquire a dvd of Ami-chan no Hatsukoi (Ami's First Love)? I've searched everywhere... and I'm seriously concerned that I might only be able to download it, not purchase it...

Downloading it may be your only option (and I recommend LimeWire should you decide to go this direction) but VKLL is still selling the fansub on DVD of that one, but it comes with the other SuperS specials on the same disc.

Do you mean the quality on the DVD or the quality on LimeWire? Either way, I couldn't honestly tell you. I ordered it from VKLL and have yet to recieve it, and LimeWire is a file-sharing service, so you never know what kind of quality you'll get from a download. All I can tell you to do as far as that is to try.

My VKLL fansubbed tapes are great quality. Sound and picture are very clear, and i've never had a problem with them.

Today I received my order of Sailor Moon S.
I want to know if its a bootleg, because it seems pretty convincing to me that its the real thing but I have my doubts because it doesn't look like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00020 ... ance&n=130

This is mine:
Front and back:

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c400/ ... /show2.jpg

The sides:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c400/ ... /show3.jpg
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c400/ ... /show4.jpg

Please I really need a reply, as you can see I haven't opened it yet because Im afraid its a bootleg and if I open it, I can't return it(I bought it from amazon), and the seller told me it was an official U.S release, and I believed him.

I've ordered this on Feb3rd, and just got it today(Feb27), so Im pretty much wrecked

It's probally offical. Could be another offical print of the boxset exists.

Manufactures are shifting the offset of their CDs. Nothing new. That's why certain CDs of the exact same kind have different offsets, because of different pressings.

That appears to be the genuine thin-pak set to me. Then again, I don't own the thin-pak set, but I have seen it in the store, and your picture looks just like that one.

And Sailor Moon S was never released in a box set before this, at least I don't believe it was.

Cover number 1 got me convinced it wasthe "official" one, but the second cover got me wondering. On EBAY I saw the the second cover: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c400/ ... /show2.jpg
used as the front cover but it was greenish.

Also the sides look like they have a cover in each disk(6 in total)(because they seem colorful to me), and I really wanna open it, to see how it is, but I just want to make sure its the right one.

Thanks for the encouragements by telling me that it seems to be the genuine thin-pak set, I'll probably open it soon, and we will see...
