Acquiring Sailor Moon Episodes and Movies
Moderators: SMU Staff, SMU Chibi-Mods
The first two seasons of Sailormoon no longer have domestic license, so corrent me if I'm wrong, you probably won't be able to find them as rentals. It has been a long time since I've rented anything, so I'm not sure if video rentals will carry unlicensed videos.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

Tempest, I finally found a website that carries it for rental I just finshed watching them.
You are correct there out of print but I was able to rent it here:
http://www.greencine.com/catalogTitleQu ... &content=4
There located in San Francisco and there quick.
I would recommend this site to any one if there looking to rent Season 1 & 2 uncut.

They have some in netflix.com
(where you can rent online, and they send it to you)
I haven't gotten anything from netflix, but they seem to have it
http://www.netflix.com/Search?v1=sailor+moon&hnjr=1
They seem to have the Sailor Moon S boxset, and the SuperS boxset.

Re: I got...
I googled the name animetoysonline, and I discovered that someone has the same name as a eBay vendor. I looked at their feedback, and discovered that several people complain about their DVD's being bootleg/burned copy.Alexclow345 wrote:I got SuperS for 29.00!! Here is my Question. It is possible that they are different people, but I would doubt it.
Also, I feel this better fits the "Acquiring Sailor Moon Episodes and Movies" thread, so I'll merge the topic.
EDIT:
I looked at animetoysonline.com and looked at their about section, and it lists that they used to be called "Cross Toy Inc.", and a prior member ID to animetoysonline from eBay is "cross-inc".
Too many simularities for me. They are the same person. And the dvd set has a 99% probability of being a bootleg, as I assumed in the first place.

No, it's just moral standing. Bootlegs are basically copies of legit DVD's. Sometimes the quality is sub-par, depending on the source. I own a few bootlegs myself, and the only issue I have with them is that the never filled in the subtitles (they're just an outline of the words.) in the ending song.Alexclow345 wrote:on ebay it had a lot of good feedback. are bootlegs bad?

Considering that the original box set is a 7 disc set, yes, it's a bootleg. The fit more episodes per disc, which means there is probably a lower quality than the original release.Alexclow345 wrote:It was a four disc boxset. It had Usagi and Chibi-usa as princesses and all of the other senshi in thier respective color. Is it a bootleg?

Re: I got...
I was on ebay trying to buy the SuperS set cause thats the only one im missing but I don't want a bootleg copy, I saw that there was one with a "never been open", original thin boxset! But it ended already! Im so mad!!! I would pay at least$110 for the original boxset! Please if anyone finds the boxset anywhere I would really appreciate the help, I guess I'll keep searching....
Keep checking Ebay, there have been quite a few Super S box sets on there the last couple of weeks (legit ones). They have gone from anything between about $80 and $230, guess it just depends on who has found them and when. There have also been several single volumes on EBay as well (even some on the UK Ebay, which is rare.)
The easiest way to tell if it is a bootleg or not is to check the number of discs and what region it says (region-free ones are definitely bootlegs, they should be region 1.) Also check the cover art with the pictures on SMU if you are not sure - they are in the news/misc section.

I really wouldn't trust eBay. I would trust Amazon more. I'm really confused on what should I do. I don't know Japanese. Should I download most of the episodes off YouTube that have OK quality, buy the SS box set and the ADV box sets, or the R2 DVDs? I really want the R2 but the prices would add up if I didn't buy them smartly.
That doesn't always work as sometimes the seller will use stock pictures.kahrani wrote:Also check the cover art with the pictures on SMU if you are not sure - they are in the news/misc section.
Amazon Marketplace is just as bad as ebay. However, if you know how to spot bootlegs, you can find some great deals on legitimate anime DVDs at both places. Thier is a good bootleg FAQ here.#1SailorMoonFan wrote:I really wouldn't trust eBay. I would trust Amazon more.
Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you''ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

I bought the ADV release of Season 1 a couple of weeks ago and I received it a couple of days ago. I bought it off EBay, it was used but in almost new condition, it cost me about 75 dollars.
And today I bought Sailor Moon S off of EBay for about 85 dollars including shipping to Sweden. It is sealed and I really hope that I don't get a bootleg.
Now I'm looking for the Season 2.
BTW, I'm new here.

If you don't know Japanese, the R2 discs won't help you. There is no English subtitle track on the discs.#1SailorMoonFan wrote:I really wouldn't trust eBay. I would trust Amazon more. You could always download the SMSS episodes off of a bittorrent website. That's how I got my SS season. English Dub / Japanese Audio with optional subtitles.

Hey, I was just wondering where the best place to buy Dic DVDs is? I just got six of them from a guy online really cheap, but I still need Volumes 2-4. Is anyone on here wanting to sell them, cause if so I'd be VERY happy. Also, I have a few questions about Yesasia.com, which is where I plan on buying the Stars and PGSM DVDs -
1. Is this http://us.yesasia.com/help/topic.aspx?l ... opicId=622 the correct address to send the money order to?
2. What other information do I send with my money order? Like, how do they know what I ordered?
Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

Need help on Classic season downloads
Well, these past few weeks I have been downloading SM off of YouTube. Well, I just got done watching episode 23. And for some reason, episodes 24-46 have vanished! Now, does anybody know some reliabe, good SM sites that have those episodes on download with well translated subtitles? And a site where the sever usually works? Much help would be appreciated. Thank you.
www.anime-avatar.net probably has them for download. It has worked for me before.

I looked through that site. I don't think they have it. Edit:
http://www.anime-avatar.net/modules/wfd ... d=4&lid=45
I went there and it says SMC 01-46. That is what is confusing me. Do I download all 46 episodes at once or something else? It confuses me. Edit: I think those are avatars. And anyway, I saved it to my computer, and it won't let me open up the file. -_-

The episodes that are on YouTube are from himura-kaoru.com
And by downloading, you mean just watching, right?
There is a way to download 'em, but I forgot...
