I have the S thin pack box set, and that's exactly how it looks on mine (except mine isn't shrink-wrapped anymore =P) The art on Amazon is a mockup; all the thinpacks are supposed to have different colors to them.

Sailor Moon Movies Box Set

Post by lustforlife » Tue Mar 21, 2006 7:30 pm

Hopefully this isn't a repetitive post, but I just wanted to know what the difference is between the Sailor Moon Movies Dream Box Set and the Sailor Moon Box Set Trilogy. Is the only difference the packaging or are they really that different?

As reference images go, here are the ones I found for the Dream Box Set:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005 ... ance&n=130

As for the Box Set Trilogy:

The Trilogy boxset seems to be a bootleg.

thanks for that info.. i just wanted to be sure of its authenticity before i actually jump into buying it.

does anyone know where my best bet could be to buy the movies box set at a reasonable price (amazon's independent sellers are selling it new for around 150 bucks, a ridiculous amount i'd say)? And E-Bay's search result for this product is questionable because the sellers don't provide a image of the box set.

Do you guys think this site http://mysite.verizon.net/jpcoolboyz/
has good quality dvds?
Anyone ever ordered off of here? I'm thinking of ordering sailor stars off there.
Sorry if this question has been asked, I'm too lazy to go through 6 pages..
Thanks in advance.

Sailor Moon DVD

Post by brashkoala » Thu Apr 06, 2006 1:38 am

Hi. I have been a huge fan of Sailor Moon for over ten years. I finally decided to buy the dvds since it will probobly never be shown in the US again. I of course decided to start off by buying the first season of Sailor Moon. I decided to buy it off of Amazon and choose this version:

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000 ... ZZZZZ_.jpg

However, today i received the shipping to find out he order shipped to me was this one:

http://www.coolwin-video.com/pic/a1896.jpg

The version I received looks completely different than the one I originally ordered and payed for. From my research, both version are almost identical. I also found out the version I wound out getting is sold for $10 cheaper than the one I purchased. My dilemma is what I should. Are these two that similar? How are they different? Should I return the version I got, or should I just keep it, since neither version has english audio? Are there any sailor moon dvds on the market that have the unaltered complete episodes but in english audio? Thanks in advance guys.

Can't answer that, but going by the second image, I'm all but sure what you got is a bootleg.

-- Should I return the version I got, or should I just keep it, since neither version has english audio?

Return it and inform Amazon the seller is dealing in bootlegs. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

-- Are there any sailor moon dvds on the market that have the unaltered complete episodes but in english audio?

Yes and no. For Season 1 and R, they do not exist. For S and SS, then yes... sort of... not really. I'm guessing you're looking for an English dub minus changes to the script. In that case, they don't exist period.

i am pretty sure it is not a bootleg because it looks very professional. the dvd folds out like a phamphelt into four parts, each part has one dvd, and animation on it. it looks very professional, but from seeing one of the episodes the opening sequence is completely different than the jappanesse or american versions. im guessing its an import. any more suggestions you guys?

First things first: the topic has been merged with an already existing topic concerning Sailor Moon TV acquisition.

Secondly, I tend to agree with Aya Reiko; it probably is a bootleg, despite how professional it looks. The website where the picture originated says it shipped from Malaysia, and the VideoStar website is in Chinese. Unfortunately, I cannot attest to the video or audio quality of these discs, as I only own the ADV versions (the ones you thought you were ordering).

Finally, as per the rules of the site, you need to enter your birthday into your profile in order to continue using the forums. Thanks.

I have the Classic and R bootleg DvDs (I got them for $28 a piece and the license had long since expired by the time I purchased them). I don't have the original ADV copies, but mine seem to be very good. The audio is poor, but from my understanding so are the officals. I havn't had any problems with my DvDs in any way outside the fact they start automtaically without subtitles. You need to access the menu screen to skip episodes and chapters and to turn on english subtitles.

It's up to you whether or not you contact the Zshop that you purchased it from and demand your money back or the copies you paid for.

I'm not sure how much this helps, but here it is. Hopefully someone who owns the officals can give their two cents. ^_^
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

That's definetly a bootleg. The official DVDs never included any phamplet like that. The only phamplets that were included with the official DVDs were these plain blue ones with the Sailor Moon logo that had an episode guide on it but that was all. If it was an official imported DVD from another country, it shouldn't be able to play on your DVD player unless your player has the proper region coding on it. Check to see if the DVDs you purchased are in Region 0. If they are, you know it's a bootleg.

If it only has four DVDs, it is indeed a bootleg. Companies don't put a 26 episode series on four DVDs. The only one I've seen are the Region 1 Fushigi Yugi box sets but they are an exception. And the bootlegs for FY are still put on three DVDs.
Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you''ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

Not to mention, SM Season 1 is 46 episodes long.

You can order them from VKLL, if they are still open.
