will there ever be completely uncut subs?

Post by Takanori-chan » Fri Jan 14, 2005 12:21 pm

Does anyone have plans to sub the R2 releases? I would very much like to have all the seasons, specials, shorts and movies in there completely uncut original format on DVD

or even better how about a licensed re-release of all the R2 DVD's for R1 with english subtitles?!? :D and as thinpak boxsets!
(I know that's quite unlikely, but I thought I'd at least voice what I really want)

while I'm at it - how about a release of direct translations of the manga - without changing characters names an such, and also the same with codename: Sailor V.

*Now back to the planet earth and my first question.*
will there be subbed copies of the R2 releases available?
if I have to get them as bootlegs I will

Well to my knowlage there are no plans to sub R2s, but I don't stay very current with these types of news. The only way I do find out is through these forums.
If you haven't found out any information in any of threads here in 'Sailor Moon' or threads in the 'news' section, I'm sure someone like Dan (MarioKnight) will know since he stays on top of things like that ^^.
And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

I read somewhere recently that someone had started subbing the first season... so I'm hopeful but maybe I'll have to wait till toei goes through with their release schedule and ask this question again when someone actually has their hands on everything.

what about the R2 movie boxset? hasn't it been released for awhile. i want to get my hands on those shorts.

There were talks between a couple people about subbing the R2s a while back, but as of yet nothing has really happened. I may attempt doing it since I have scripts for I think all episodes, most of which are timed, but that's a longshot at best right now simply because I don't have the time to put into that, as well as money to buy every R2 release. It'll probably be a couple years before I have all the R2 releases unless I come across some good cash. That's all the news non-offical-like.

As for offical licensed releases, don't really expect anything new. Toei is pretty much letting Sailor Moon slowly die over here by not allowing any license renewals. As it currently stands, only Sailor Moon S and SS are licensed on this side of the ocean, and I'm willing to bet that by the end of 2005 their contract will end. However, just last month Toei has announced that they will be releasing their shows over here themselves doing distribution through Geneon, so it might be possible down the line to see Toei release the R2 quality Sailormoon over here a few years down the line. Right now anything is pretty much up in the air.

From both legit and non-legit sides, I wouldn't really expect too much, but anything can happen.

it would be nice if toei released the dvd's here through geneon. i would very much look forward to that day. in the meantime though i'll have to settle with the sets i have. (which i'm still quite pleased to have - its a whole lot better than nothing - i just don't like what all the sets did to the credits - it would be nice to see the episodes as they aired in japan)

I also think it would be awesome if they released legit subs with the R2 quality! But I doubt that will happen. I also have all the episodes, most of which except for the Pioneer S and SuperS episodes are on vhs, and I would love to replace Stars with high quality DVD's.
