Sailor Moon Without The Magic.

Post by Cardcaptor Takato » Thu Jan 13, 2005 5:22 pm

What do you think Sailor Moon would have been like if it was a mahou shoujo anime without all the mahou stuff? How do you think the storyline would've been told if it was through a realistic way without all the fantasy battles between good and evil? I can't really think of anything at the moment expect that instead of having Mamoru gain his memory back through the Ginzuishou, he might've gotten it back by being involved in another car acciddent, and maybe by being put through this acciddent, it could've helped Usagi realize her feelings for him. I can't think of anything for what sort of lost realistic memories Mamoru could have to replace the more fantasyish memories we all know and love at the moment. ^^;;

It wouldn't have been. The story REVOLVES around magic. You can't just take that away.

XD!!!! What NameGoesHere said. I mean, without the magic, how would the girls even know they were destined to fight evil? Luna and Artemis couldn't speak, the Moon Kingdom wouldn't exist if the show was realistic and SailorStars would make jack all sense since aliens and destructive godesses in gold don't exist. Plus, how would Sailormoon fight evil without her magical rods, she's hardly the physically stong type like Haruka and Mako.
Michiru: I sense a disturbance in the force.
Haruka: -_-;
It's funny because it's true. Just replace force with ocean and that's pretty much all she says in S.

Hahaha. That sounds like what me and my friends do! I still think it would be fun to watch without magic. They often do fun stuff in the episodes that are entertaining and funny, and those would still be there, but I certainly prefer it with magic. Most likely there would be a lot fewer episodesbecause a lot of scenes don't fit without magic.

Seriously. LMFAO.

And yeah. That's pretty much the gist of it. the damn thing revolves around magic. You take that away, and you just have some random girls, sitting around and watching helplessly as magics attack their city.

Without magic, the only ones who could fight would be Makoto, Haruka, and maybe Rei. And they would be defeated rather quickly if the enemies are strong enough.

We're forgetting the fact that without magic, they probably wouldn'te ven KNOW eachother. The reason they all met was becuase they were senshi..without magic, they wouldn't be senshi. The silver millenium wouldn't have existed or been destroyed, and serenity may not even exist.

...Nothing about this show would exist.

Watashi mo LMFAO!

Like everyone said, there are some nice side stories in it, but it's mostly based on magic.

Well, just about everything fantasy can be converted to schlock sci-fi with a little work. Just change "Imperium Silver" to "Dilithium" and transformations to putting on power suits and instead of Sailor Moon pouring her love into her wand, she'd have Amy tell her to re-route through the output capacitor or some technobabble like that, and voila.

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

Sailor Moon could exist without the magic themes. Just get rid of the MOTD, the baddies, the cats, the attacks, the henshins, the past lives, etc and you still have [combines PGSM with BSSM]:

The Usagi-Amnesiac Mamoru-Hina thing.
The Shingo-Mika thing.
The Makoto-Senpai-Ken-Motoki-Reika thing.
The Umino-Naru thing.
The Rei-Yuuchiro thing.
The Urawa-Ami thing.
The Minako-Brain Cancer thing.
The Haruka-Michiru relationship.
The Seiya-Usagi thing.
The Ami-and-her-parents deal.
The Rei-and-her-father deal.
And all the drama that ensues as Makoto deals with her parents' deaths in her everyday life, driving to her to join a gang and do bad stuff.

lol

Basically it's like the OC just in Tokyo and with a mainly female cast.

Even if we accept the Silver Millennium, Makoto/Motoki only happens because Usagi introduces them. Haruka and Michiru only met up because of their destiny as the Outer Soldiers. Seiya and Usagi would have never met because there would be no Galaxia forcing Kakyuu Princess into hiding. And, again, this would be a pretty boring show if all these other stories were self contained with very little interaction at all.

Well, you could get all of them together in a non-magic based story. Think of an Alternate Universe fanfic.

Mamoru is the young prodigy CEO of a world renowned talent agency, taking over after his strict father dies and leaves the company to him.

Ami is his advisor, keeping him up to date on all of the latest statistics in the entertainment world, while keeping a part time job as a basement-based mad scientist. (Couldn't resist.)

Usagi is the cute, fumbling, newly-hired secretary who's smile is slowly melting Mamoru's cold heart.

Minako works through the talent agency in order to obtain her Idol career. While spending so much time in the office, she becomes fast friends with Usagi.

Rei is still a priestess, but without significant powers. She advises Usagi whenever she feels that the heartless working world is too much for her.

Makoto, of course, owns the restaurant where everyone likes to stop by at the end of the day.

That's just an example, but it could be accomplished. It just wouldn't be Sailor Moon. You cannot take the magic out of Sailor Moon, as it is the basis of the show. All of the characters could be worked into an non-magical universe, but it would be a completely different genre of show, with a completely different fan base. I, for one, probably wouldn't have come to like it if it had been that way.

We could call it "Clumsy Bunny Girl Secretary who has an affair with her boss while a bunch of random people walk around"

I like, let's sell it to FOX.
