Actually I can imagine them having that conversation. Minako dreams of becoming a big star, and the Japanese have a weird obsession with American pop culture so I can see her saying that.

Everyone else would immediately think that her chances of going to America and winning a big contest like that is unrealistic, but would be to polite to say anything.

Minako would take that as a commentary on her singing, and Luna would make a joke about it to deflect the uncomfortable atmosphere.

Minako would respond with a quasi-witty pop reference.
