Zoomed in transformation scenes on Pioneer/Geneon dvds
Did anyone else notice how the transformation scenes were zoomed in now and again on the uncut Sailor Moon S Series DVDs. Yet in the Edited version of S shown on TV, they weren't zoomed in, you can clearly tell this with Moon's Cosmic S transformation, when she spins around with her arms above her head, you see her wrists cut off because it won't fit on the screen, yet in the edited version you see her whole arms and fingers in the exact same part of the transformation. I have no idea why these were zoomed in for the uncut releases. It happened to the Inner Senshi as well a bit. This happened throughout the S season a fair bit with a few of the Senshi, however sometimes they weren't zoomed in

That's really weird. I've glad I didn't buy the S box set. I bought all six S DVDs seperately ages ago. It was more expensive to buy them, but at least they weren't all glitchy like that.
EDIT: Did anyone find that problem with the Super S box set? I want to know about any glitches, if any, before I buy it.

Is this just on the S DVD boxset, or all of the S DVDs?

Have you also noticed in the edited versions that the transformations are lightened quite a bit? I mean, they made the Outer's look albino for goodness sake!flamesniper_sean wrote:Did anyone else notice how the transformation scenes were zoomed in now and again on the uncut Sailor Moon S Series DVDs. All DVDs are the same for each release. Original Pioneer 2000 version, 2004 Geneon Signature Series version, and 2004 Geneon Thinpak boxset all are the same excat disc throughout, only different packaging and prices. So this issue is on all discs anyone has from the series. As was discussed way back when the discs were initially released, the masters that were given to Pioneer for the discs back then were a mix of the TV masters and the LD masters. The TV masters have moments where scenes are zoomed in in comparison to the LDs, and on the LD masters, our DVDs had many scenes zoomed out, showing more picture than had ever been seen before. Episodes 90 - 98 had the TV masters, and from 99 on the LD masters with more picture. For picture comparisons, visit the Sailor Senshi Page's DVD review section and go to each of the discs review's there. Jackie did a good job capturing the images from each source for examples and adding the shaded area of what was cut from each part for certain scenes.

Ahhh, okay, thank you. I feel better now knowing that it doesn't matter which one I buy.All DVDs are the same for each release. Actually, I much prefer buying the Pioneer DVDs over the Geneon Signature Series. The packaging is much prettier, and there are many more special features, etc. Not to mention that with the Pioneer DVDs you have a reversible cover, and on the inside cover there's a tiny poster you can unfold and hang up.

There's not one difference between the Pioneer and Geneon releases...they're the same in every single way, aside of that big ugly "GENEON SIGNATURE SERIES" printed across the cover of each one.
And yes, I noticed it when I bought my first S DVD, when I saw one of the inners transforming and her hand was on the screen, I thought there may be something wrong with my setup...but no, that's just how it is.
It's not really any different...they're just a little bit closer.

The Geneon/ Pioneer TV series box sets do not have the tacky red stripes on them. They come in slimline cases which look really nice, none of the rereleased dvds have double sided covers but that doesnt matter since the front covers were improved a bit, if however you buy the signature series dvds, they are available to buy per volume. There are 6 volumes in the S series and there are 7 volumes in the Super S series. and they always have the red stripe. The slimline tv series box sets for both S and Super S are great, the covers are nice and bright, the boxes are great, plus they're a bargain, i recommend these since i received them a few months ago, some people may notice that volume/disc 3 of the S series which has episodes such as Usagi in Time for a waltz and the episode where they talk about Uranus' and Neptune's past....well....the subtitles arent very clear on this volume in some parts but you can still read them. The episode where that young boy takes off his pants for Rini/ Chibiusa is worse in the uncut english version since they add in dialogue for some dumb reason saying "I've got sailor moon undies"...the edited english was better in this scene...in the japanese version he says "my little elephant"...i'm sure you will understand what this means *wink wink*

Unfortunately, I already have Heart Collection I and VI and Pegasus Collection V - VII...so I'd just be buying them over again.
