Confusing SuperS phrase?

Post by Rainbow » Tue Oct 19, 2004 6:09 pm

In the SuperS anime, the Amazoness Quartet says "Never never be suspicious of dreams within the dreams of dreaming kids." I'm not quite sure what that means.

On a related note, I've had at least two dreams in which I or someone close to me has died but right before the death I "woke up" within the dream, that is, I had a dream within a dream. Is this what that phrase is referring to? Or is it symbolism for something; I know the director of SuperS was fond of symbolism.

I heard somewhere that it was "Never doubt the dreams...". If it's that, then I think it might refer to Nehellenia's search for Pegasus and how she shouldn't doubt the dreams inside of dreams of children. In other words, she shouldn't look at someone's dreams and say "Pegasus can't be their because this child's dreams are worthless" when in fact he might have been there.

The dream inside of a dream may refer to how deep Pegasus was hiding in Chibi-Usa's dreams.

...then again I might be completely wrong ^^;

Basically it means to never be wary of anything within the dreams of children, including dreams within dreams. Children are so new and pure to the world that not even their dreams within their dreams would contain any of the suspicious things that some adults may dream of.

Is that the correct Japanese translation? If so, then I would either go with Koi's answer, or just dismiss it as the ramblings of the Quartet. Remember, they were children, and much of what they said was rather strange, and intentionally so. It could be similar to American children saying "How much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood?" Just trying to see how many times the same word can be said on one sentence.
"I loved you. I was a pentapod monster, but I love you. I was despicable and brutal and turpid, mais je t'aimais, je t'aimais. And there were times when I knew how you felt, and it was hell to know it. My Lolita girl, brave Dolly Schuller."

"Yume Yume Utagau Koto Nakare Yume Miru Kodomo No Yume No Yume"

You're probably right. They say yume five times. @_@ one to many for me *pops a peachy advil*

Actually, I'm pretty sure it meant something to Nehelenia too, not just the silly Quartet. But it could just be weird nonsense.

"Never doubt the dreams of innocent dreamers. Never doubt the dreams of innocent children. Never ever doubt your worst nightmare" was the dub phrase of "Dream dream don't doubt it..." of the Japanese version =P

Geneon's SMSS Boxset DVD release says the translation is "A dream of dreams that dreaming children have. Dream, dream, don't doubt it."

I'm not really sure anymore. I seem to be confused about everything lately. I need a vacation.

Yeah, I'm confused.
“See this butt? Yeah. Look at it. LOOK AT MY BUTT. This is all you’re getting. MY BUTT to look at it. Yeah, bet you’re sorry now, aren’t you? You’d like to see my cute fuzzy face, wouldn’t you? But all you’re getting is the BUTT. LOOK AT IT. LOOK AT MY BUTT. Sucker.”
The thing is, Henrietta has—how can I put this? Kind of a big butt. If Henrietta were a celebrity? She’d be J-Lo.
Not that J-Lo has what I would call a big butt. But others have opined that this is so. I think J-Lo has a normal, healthy butt. As does Henrietta.

It is pretty confusing but I'd definatley think that what they mean is what was said, though hearing it I can see where Rainbow would be confused by it.

Dreams within dreams are confusing enough... especially for the person having them. But if is AQ are looking into those children's dreams, they may not look into the dream within a dream because they don't think it's important... but I think that quote is telling them that they should always look deep into children's dreams.

::Looks above at her response:: Okay I hope that wasn't TOO confusing for some people lol.
Plug for my message board Im awful. ::Hangs head in shame::

Left here alone, and unsure of what I feel. Unclear, but I see, Just what I'm afraid of.
I can't find my way anymore. And I cannot heal the wounds I've created. I can't let let go of whats killing me
Falling from this edge, I am lost to all I know
I can't breathe anymore Somehow I'm locked inside this cage And I've tried, but I cant Fight to stay alive
Falling from this edge, I am lost to all I know Time is only Fantasy And lies, the only reverie.
I've tried But I can't fight anymore.
I've Fallen from this edge, I am lost to all I know Time is only Fantasy And lies, the only reverie.
