So if you get a disc with English dialogue, ADV sends you a replacement? That's good to know. Who do you contact for a replacement DVD if you should get one with English voices?

That's good to know. I was getting nervous hearing people say on a site that sells these boxsets that you had to turn the volume up really high in order to hear the show, and that there was a fuzzy sound in the background.

But even Pioneer Entertainment's Sailor Moon DVDs play sounding a little low, but it doesn't bother me. I just make the volume louder. The volume probably sounds a little low, because Sailor Moon is considered an old anime from 1992.

Actually, I have had no problem at all with Pioneer's Sailor Moon release. They were pretty average compared to other DVDs. ADV's just plain sucked. I know older anime series like Record of Lodoss War OVA that had far better sound than this crap.

As for replacements, I think you will need to print and fill out a form from ADV and then mail it along with your DVD. There should be more information if you browse through SMU's updates.

The sound is mono, not stereo, so that's part of it. I think the Geneon stuff is fine personally.

If you do get the first and second season boxsets you can get them for $50 each at rightstuf.com.

Except for the opening when you watch it in English..that's in stereo. Then again, how many of us here like the English Sailor Moon theme?

All the Sailor Moon DVD boxes released contain the uncut version, where the Geneon ones have the dub on them as well, ADV's have the Japanese track only. So if you buy any DVD box in any store, you will definetly have the uncut version to watch. The only dub only DVDs are ADV's releases of the DiC dub, but since you asked about boxes, you won't have to worry since there's no boxset of them.

I got my Sailor Stars set from there, back when it didn't have actual boxes. They're pretty well done, they ship reletively quikly, there's about 3 episodes per disc, and they come with helpful information about japanese culture for certain episodes so that it's easier to understand the comments and jokes. They're probably the best boxes out there, as far as unoficial boxes go. Plus they're very reasonably priced. The quality can be a little grainy some times, but it's not really that bad.

That sounds pretty good. What about the sound quality? If the sound quality is better than my ADV box sets, then I would definately consider rebuying them. I would also consider rebuying Stars, just to upgrade my VHS collection to DVD.

I only have the movie boxset containing the 3 movies Sailor Moon R, S and Super S but I really need to start buying the episodes. You have to love the covers on the cases with it's looks and it's great detail in colour. That's what also attracts me into buying them ^^.

RoastedTwinkies: On my stars box the quality is pretty good, it has it's moments where it's a little funky sounding, but I don't remember the quality being "bad". It sorta sounds like when you tape something off of TV, maybe a little bit better though.

i just got the two adv boxsets, and i honestly can't see why everyone is always bashing them. the sound quality wasn't that bad at all, no worse than my pioneer sailormoon dvds. i hardly have to turn my tv up at all. of course their was that one incident with the whole "serena laughter" thing i'm sure everyone is familiar with. *shudder*

Yeah. From what I heard, anyone who owns the Classic and R boxsets who doesn't bash them saysthe sound quality is just like that of S and SuperS DVDs from Geneon. But no one ever says any complaints about them.
