Since this is Sailor V, no Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon discussion!
I think Sailor V was an awesome prequel to Sailor Moon, although the same basic plot was used over and over again. You basically got an idol of some sort working for the Dark Agency, being reflected, and being zapped. One pleasant surprise that I did get in Volume One's I think last volume/act that completely took me by surprise was
seeing Usagi, Naru, and Rei! I completely did not expect that, and it was nice to see.
In #2's first volume, the Greek adventure was pretty funny, especially that Aloha Kamen guy.
Anyone else's thoughts on Codename: Sailor V?
Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....
Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!

Even though I've only read the online translations and don't have the actual artwork, I still enjoyed reading it. It was a fun and addicting series, but it lacked a sense of direction to me. There was no real development in the story and characters until the very last chapter. I was a little dissappointed that we didn't learn more about the Dark Agency and I would've liked to learn a little more about Minako's past life. Still, it was a lot of fun and if Tokyopop would ever license the manga, I'd definetly be one to buy it.

I was always wondering why they never made any sort of anime of Sailor V. I mean, maybe it wasn't long enough to have a whole series (although each Sailor Moon series was only three or four books in the manga, they just filled the series with filler) but maybe a movie or something. I always wanted to see the Sailor V saga animated.

Here's what happened. I'm not sure exactly when Codename Sailor V started, but it started before Sailor Moon. Naoko's manga got the attention of TV Asahi and Toei and they offered to turn it into a television series if she made another series with a group of soldiers instead of just one. Then, Sailor Moon got so popular, Naoko focused on that, and so Codename Sailor V didn't finally wrap up until 1997 after Sailor Moon ended.

Ohh, come to think of it I did read that the Sailor V manga ended after Sailor Moon ended, and it didn't make any sense to me whatsoever considering Sailor V started before Sailor Moon and only published three mangas (I think) while Sailor Moon had 18. That solves several mysteries. Thanks.

Apparently, the Sailor V manga is getting redone just like the Sailormoon manga. I read it at prettyguardian.com I didn't know it, but apparently the old Sailor V manga is out of print in Japan. T_T that explains why I couldn't get Vol.3 over there.

Yeah. All the original Sailor Moon mangas are out of print now. That why they've been getting harder and harder to find.

I own volume 2, and I hope to get the new editions when they are released. I've enjoyed what I own so far, it's nice to see more into Minako's life.

You can still buy Sailor V #1, #2, and #3 from
www.jpqueen.com , and it costs about 4 dollars for each seperate manga and anywhere from 7-8 dollars for shipping. Of course it might be easier to just wait until the new releases come out and order them or buy them, but I'm one of those people who like to compare the original to the retouched manga
