Sera Myu

Post by Celexa » Sun Aug 22, 2004 7:35 pm

TV-N subbed it's first Sera Myu! Awesome! I'm not familiar with the musical name though, can't wait till it finishes! I'm also curious, how many musicals are there? On most sites they list 10-11, but somewhere I read there were more than 700.
I'm confused :? Any favorite musicals? I've only watched Ai no Sanctuary, but that one was really good. In my opinion, Sera Myu has the best songs though!

Me: This is coming from the kid who doesn't know what Viagra is!
Ko: It's cold medicine, right?
Our Group: NO!!!
Me: Can I just say?
Dylan: Sure, it's no weirder than what normally comes out of your mouth.
Me: (says what)
Ko: .....What's that?
Me: ......*starts crying*
Carley: STEVE! STEVE GET OVER HERE AND TELL KO WHAT VIAGRA DOES!
Steve: See, it's like this: The bridge goes up and the soldiers rush out....

Tiff: Aww, you killed someone for me. That's so sweet in a f***ed up sort of way!

I believe "Sera Myu" is a general term for all the Sailor Moon musicals, but how many there are or the subtitles of them I can not say.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I've never seen the musicals, but I have heard of something. People who think Taiki was too cold and aloof in the anime will find them to be refreshing--at least, when Hikari Ono played her, she and Yaten were the silly ones. I've heard the Starlights are more serious in the newer musicals, though.

I've only seen short clips of the musicals. The songs are great and it looks fun and entertaining!

I'm not familiar with the name either, though I did enjoy it. It was cute. They sang La Solider twice though didnt they? But it seemed to be a small show rather than a full-throttle musical, since there wasnt really a plot to it. Could it be considered a Sera Myu?

I think that there are 10-11 different musicals, as in different storylines, but the 700 is to how many performances they've done over the years. Does that make any sense?

And as for the musicals themselves, I've never seen one, but I would love to have the chance. I've downloaded some of the music, and it's awesome, but I desperately want to see more...T_T

The first TV-Nihon release is kind of a teaser release. It's a short show the Japanese actresses did in China to introduce Seramyu over there.

The full musicals are about 90 minutes long and actually have stories to them. :)

Ohhh.......NOW it makes sense! But if they do one every summer and one every winter, would some of those be the revision musicals, or were those just made for the DVDs? Because my figures don't match up, but I'm assuming SeraMyu started in '94 so I could be wrong. When DID Sera Myu start?

The first Serayu was in Summer of 1993 and they had one once each summer for 1994 and 1995. 1996 was the year where they started having two per year, one always in the summer, the other one being in either spring or winter.

Some of those would be the revision musicals, right? Because that would be 20 different musicals @.@ Of course new ones have come out, and I could be assuming again, but I don't think there are 20 different stories...

Sera Myu is definantly interesting though. I think it's neat how they take the old characters, add some new ones, and create an awesome new storyline! I don't know the musical name, but that Galaxia / Beryl one sounds really neat.

I finally got to see The Coming of Princess Kakyuu, and it's my favorite musical to date! It was great, especially the 2004 version of Boku-tachi no Jidai

Or maybe I'm just biased due to being a Starlights fangirl. But it really, truely was a great and funny musical. Especially that Hemihachiro guy. My favorite parts of him were the cast call, his non-sensical little musical round about purchasing a disordered hill, and when he
dressed up as Sailor Chibi Moon. I just about died.
Celexa: It makes sense that that count would include the Kaiteban (revisions). Sometimes the changes seem to be pretty minor, but in a few cases they've swapped stuff around a good bit and spiffed things up. :)

I'm glad to hear the revised See Me, Boku-Tachi no Jidai is good - I'm by no means a Starlights fangirl, but I'm really fond of that song. :)

If you want to download 2004 Boku-Tachi, http://www.makenai.org/makenai/ should still have it up for download there somewhere. It was great, it really was. I also love that "We Can't Be The Soldiers Of Love Forever" song. I liked it better in Ai no Sanctuary, but it was still pretty good in the Coming of Kakyuu musical. But my all time favorite Myu song is Link :P

I have to agree. "Link" is a great song (from Kaguya Shima Densetsu), but I also like "The Last Change" from Translyvania no Mori a lot ^_^

Oh I forgot about Last Change! I love that one too, but on the second part after "Moon Stick" but before "Moon Tier" does she say "Moon Rod" or "Moon Scope" or something completely different? Could never figure that out, to me it sounds like "Moon to" which I know is wrong @.@

I think its "Moon Rod"

Here's a link to the lyrics :D http://www.angelfire.com/musicals/music ... hange.html

Also... what 2 or 3 musicals do you recommend I see next? I have no idea which ones are better than others...

Thanks for the links - got 'em. The 2004 See Me, Boku-Tachi no Jidai is sung well, but the "Wai, wai, wai!" in the background is kind of a nuisance, IMO. I'd like it a lot better if the audience didn't participate.

Link's nice, but I think my "favorite Myu song" award goes to L'amour D'amour Moonlight from Usagi Ai no Senshi e no Michi. :)

I saw an older Sera-myu musical a while back and didn't like it too much (it was one of those infamous musicals with the humans trying to be Luna and Artemis), but I recently saw "The Coming of Kakyuu" and really enjoyed it. The costumes were much better this time around than the last time I saw Sera-myu, although I still think the color of Usagi's wig is too bright. I prefer the color they had in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, personally. Anyway, I loved "Boku-tachi no Jidai" which is probably my favorite song from the musical. I also liked the "Here goes! Shining Stars!" song (I think that's what it's called, anyway) and "La Soldier" which was played in the encore, too.

I thought it was interesting how the musical combined plots from both the anime and the manga, then also featured its own original stories. I was a bit confused though,
as to why Queen Beryl was working for Sailor Galaxia all of the sudden.
Perhaps I should've seen the other musicals first? But I don't know where to find the other musicals for download, expcet for Ai no Sanctuary, which I also recently downloaded, but I haven't gotten around to watching it yet. The only thing I didn't like about this musical was Kakyuu, mainly because I didn't like her operaish style of singing. Can you tell I'm not a huge fan of opera? ^^;; My favorite scene has to be when Haruka meets Seiya for the first time.

Seiya: Please remember me as a junior.
Haruka: Yeah, like someone of the opposite sex.

Or something like that. ^^;;
