Soldier Classification

Post by Starscream » Wed Oct 22, 2003 5:30 pm

Are the terms "Inner Soldiers" and "Outer Soldiers" ever used in the comic or cartoon, or are they something we fans made up to distinguish them?

Follow-up question coming soon...

I think it's a fan base tream I know in the manga the close thing said by the outers is something like
" Form teh Outer reagion of the Sloar Systum (God fo thier plant and somethign to do wiht it Sailor Plant)
The Doctor: What''''s the use of a good quotation if you can''''t change it?

[referring back to Ace''''s earlier, rather transparent denial of packing Nitro-9]
The Seventh Doctor: Ace, give me some of that Nitro-9 you''''re not carrying.

The Seventh Doctor: [the Doctor is knelt coughing on the ground having blown up a Dalek with some nitro-9 explosive. The fuse had a shorter time on it than Ace told him] Ace! You said ten seconds.

It's a fan term, just to make it easier when referring to either group.

It's definitely a fan translation. If you want more information, there's an article about it at Dies Gaudii.

Then I wonder how Takeuchi Naoko refers to each group without the Outer/Inner Senshi? I know that the Sailor Team is mostly the Inner Senshi...

The Sailor Team is composed of Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, and (in SuperS) Chibimoon.

Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are referred to as the "Three senshi from the outer regions of the solar system." Saturn was grouped with them in Sailorstars (anime) and the term was changed to "Four senshi..."

Naoko-sama calls them the Inner and Outer Senshi. The terms are not from her manga, but she heard the fans call them that and so she calls them that too.

Do you have a source for this? It's kind of interesting if true.

The Sailor Team is made up of the outer senshi as well. I'm certain it was used in reference to all of them, probably in the manga. I'll try to find it.

In the manga, all 9 senshi together are called "The Solar Sailor Senshi."

Did anyone notice that in SuperS English translation, did anyone notice that Michiru said "We've lost our power as Outer Senshi!"
I wonder why they said this, since it's a fan translation. :? This was volume number 3.

Ian Andreas Miller of Dies Gaudii has replied to lots of the point brought up in this thread in a post at the Genvid forum. Not quite sure why didn't join this forum and reply here

im pretty sure the term itself is fanmade, and not contrary to common belief based on the inner and outer planets. If this was so then jupiter would be an outer senshi seeing as the planet jupiter is considered an outer planet in the scientific community.

also as its been mentioned the sailor team are the inners and the memeber sof the inners are the protectors of neo queen serenity in the future so maybe that also is a factor...

I had no idea it was a fan-made term, really. But it is very convenient, aye? And makes total sense!
