Well, since everyone else is doing it...*jumps off cliff*
...oh wait, that's not it o_O
Anyhow, my first episode was the one where the Soldiers face off against the Weird Sisters and Rubeus. I forget the English title, but the Japanese version is called "Protect Chibi Usa! The fierce battle between the 10 warriors."

The first episode for me was the very first episode. I stumbled on the show by accident when it first premiered in Canada and watched it from the beginning.
I don't mind the dub. The only DVDs I have are the R movie and the second SS DVD. I recently started watching the SS DVD dubbed and found that their were things that made me laugh in the dub that didn't in the sub. I still love the sub, but the dub has it's moments (like in the episode where Darien's staying at Raye's temple and she calls Serena Little Red Maniac Hood ^_^).

The first episode I saw was episode 10, "Fight To The Finish" (Japanese episode 13, "The Girls are in Unison! The End of Jadeite") on Toonami. I remember seeing Usagi's shoe fly off and hit Mamoru in the head, and the battle at the airport. Then I didn't watch for a week or so and when I watched again there was this other character (who happened to be Sailor Jupiter)
When I go through my old recorded dub tapes, I always seem to watch Sailor Moon's transformation when it's a DiC episode. For some reason, I like the music that they used there. It brings back memories of me liking the dub and how cool I thought it was.

Usagi and Mamoru are my favorite couple and Darien and Serena are my favorite couple. I love remembering the first time I saw them, which brings back wonderful memories, which brings me to this topic. I love both the Japanese and English versions. My favorite version is the Japanese version, the original version. Both versions are very special. I remember I first watched Sailor Moon back in 1995. I think the first episode I saw was the first episode, or one of the first episodes. It was in the very beginning of the first season in one of the very first times it was shown. I loved Mamoru and Usagi / Darien and Serena right away. I fell in love with Tuxedo Mask / Tuxedo Kamen. I had dreams of marrying him. I remember how I would watch each episode at about 6:00 in the morning. I would get so excited to find out what would happen. Each morning another episode would air. Many years later I ordered the Japanese episodes. The Japanese episodes were fansubbed and in the original form. The Japanese episodes were so much different from the English ones. I kept ordering more Japanese episodes to compare the differences between each version. Now I own all of the Japanese fansubs, but I will always remember how in 1995 I'd watch Sailor Moon every morning at 6:00. I will always remember these wonderful memories.

The first episode of Sailor Moon I ever watched was Trouble Comes Thundering In (Seek the Silver Crystal! Chibi-Usa's Secret). My little sister made me watch it and I thought it was gonna be stupid. After the episode was over, I was hooked and she swore she would never watch it again cuz she thought it was so dumb. For some reason, I never had to be told it wasn't an American show, I just like knew it wasn't. So, anywho, I watched it and when it started back at the beginning like a little over a week later I was sad cuz I looooved Sailor Jupiter. Anytime I see the Classic episodes or the R episodes, especially the first one I saw, I get all fuzzy inside and its like I wish I was that young again so I could watch it some more, despite now knowing how much it was hacked apart.

Ya, I know what you mean, watching the dub brings back memories, I used to watch that in third, fourth and fifth grade, fifth grade was when I began watching it in Japanese though. The first dub episode I saw back when it was on upn13 was the "Tuxedo Melvin" one. I got up kinda' early cuz I could here my sister, and she was watching this show, and I started to watch it, I knew what is was already because before seeing the show I saw commercials for the dolls, but that didn't interest me, I thought the commercials were kinda' dumb. However, since that morning I have been hooked.
I started with Sailor Moon when it first started airing on Toonami (the first ep I saw was "A Moon Star is Born") and immediately got hooked. I watched through Classic, R, was all hyped watching the Lunar Eclipse (the last 17 eps of R), S, SS, and the R, S, and SS movies on Toonami. I loved the show! Soon I was online and reading up on Sailor Moon (at that time I hated the Japanese version and wanted material such as WAVs, AVIs, and such from the dub) and then when Sailor Moon ended on Toonami, I thought I would never see it again. Eventually I got more interested in the Japanese version (got tons of Japanese clips on my HD now, including all of Stars). About 7 months ago, I went to Best Buy just for fun, found an anime section, and saw tons of Sailor Moon DVDs. I bought about 3 regular dub DVDs (because I like the dub and the original too) and the R, S, and SS movies (not in the Dream Box set). I also saw that the Classic box was 99.99, so I quickly bought that too. Since then, I got all 14 dub DVDs, and the R, S, and SS boxsets. All I need is a Stars boxset (come on Toei, let them do it), and a DVD of Ami-chan no Hatsukoi and the 3 SS specials. =\
I think the first place I found Japanese clips was at Skyfire's GWP (on Geocities, now gone)
So I've gained alot more respect for the Japanese version and now I like it more over the dub version, but I still love the dub. =P

I first saw the dub when my sister would watch it and it was new in the US(at the time they would still advertise those horrid barbie clone dolls). I was in the 5th grade at the time and remember not liking it, and a girl who sat next to me named Katie loved it (I have no clue why I remember that). Anyway, a few years go by, then I watch the episode "Day of Destiny"(the butchered to hell Season 1 Finale)on Toonami, and I fall in love with the dub, and never miss an episode(this was about 8th grade). Then over the summer before High School, I'd go to the public library and use the internet because I didn't have it at home. I then stumbled upon various Sailor Moon pages full of info and comparisons between the 2 versions, and info about the other seasons never seen in America (this was before S and SuperS were dubbed). I couldn't believe all the stuff I read (the first big shocker was that Zoisite was male), and knew I had to see the Subs. Then I realized what utter crap the dub was, and while I absolutely hate the dub, I do enjoy a few episodes of the DiC version, especially "Day of Destiny", simply because its the one and only episode that I feel was actually done better as far as music goes than the original.
Oh, and I thought I was the only one who did that "sub on dubs" thing. One episode you must do that on is the 2nd to last episode...simply hilarious.

2nd last episode of which season? S? Because that's the only one I have on DVD.devilmaykickass wrote: Oh, and I thought I was the only one who did that "sub on dubs" thing. One episode you must do that on is the 2nd to last episode...simply hilarious.

I kinda wish i had the dub on VHS at least. I like to watch it because of the music. In many cases, I think DiC's music is better than the original (it sounds newer, and more up-beat), but there are some places I like the original stuff. I like to watch my dub SuperS movie so I can hear the DiC transformation music. I like it waaay more than I do most of the originals. Call me crazy, but I hate having the name of the character repeated to me. I *know* what show I'm watching, and I *know* the characters' names, stop singing them for Pete's sake!! That's probably why I like the Outer's music. *sighs sadly*
The first time I saw sailor moon was when it aired on Toonami, and I was lucky enough to catch the first episode. I loved it and made my sister watch it the next day, and we both got hooked. Neat-o stuff.

You like it? I extracted the music from the episodes and removed the voices, and it sounds good.crazydiamond wrote:In many cases, I think DiC's music is better than the original (it sounds newer, and more up-beat), but there are some places I like the original stuff. Please note that some people had problems with these mp3s (something about needing codecs [#55], just use Winamp if you have a problem).
And I'm still working on them and adding to them often!

Thats pretty much how I am too. Infact, the only DiC music I DIDN'T like over the original was that horrid music that played while the outers were transforming on the dub of the S movie. There is alot of music I love from the original, but as far as transformation music goes, I prefer DiC's "synthisized crap".crazydiamond wrote:I kinda wish i had the dub on VHS at least.
