Tokyopop Renewal of Sailor Moon Manga...?

I've been wondering about this for a while. You know how Cardcaptor Sakura was renewed, put in its original "reversed" format, and given a more accurate translation? Well, do you think that the same can be done about the Sailor Moon manga given the chance? I know I'd be the happiest girl in the world if that were to happen!

Although I probably wouldn't re-buy it all, that would be rather interesting....lol if only they would go back through it and fix the errors and stuff.

It would be nice if they just translated the new PGSM manga instead, I think another company has the rights to that, or am I mistaken?

Actually, I'm still hoping that Tokyopop will translate the Sailormoon artbooks or the Codename wa Sailor V manga, as it would be my only chance to own either of those two!

Is the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon manga based off the live-action series, or just a remake of the manga?

And yes, I'd love for them to get their hands on those artbooks! I just hope they don't censor them at all, because there are some nude/underwear pieces in there. I know they aren't explicit, but I don't know if I can trust Tokyopop not to do that.

The new pgsm manga is a remake of the original manga. It doesn't follow the show, but rather, the show follows the manga. The only things that have changed are that some panels were redrawn and/or colored, some dialogue was changed and the linear notes were erased and replaced with drawings of chibi figures of the senshi.

XD I have forever tainted the Henshin that is Sailor Mars, I must go watch the other Henshins slowley so that I can pick out more stuff.

Didn't Tokyopop lose the rights to Sailormoon? Then they couldn't renew it, and if this is like the thing with the DVDs, they probably won't be able to get them back.

Oh well, I never likd the translations (points to the part where "Darien" said he drank to much at a frat party -_-)

I was also under the impression that Tokyopop no longer had the rights to BSSM. I could very well be wrong about that, though.

If they do still have the rights, I'd like it if they redid the translations, redid the cover art, and released it in one or two boxed sets, something along the lines of what they did when they rereleased Magic Knight Rayearth.

Anyhow, with their recent success with a few titles I've either picked up or read off the shelves, I wouldn't mind if they got the rights back (if they ever lost them) and did a reprinting based on the "Pretty Guardian" version of the comics. I think I would pick them up despite owning their first attempt at them; not only would they do a much better job with them, but it'd be nice to have all 12 volumes as graphic novels rather than scattered among anthologies, individual comics, and GNs.

I can't remember if they lost the rights but I do know their old versions are out of print now.

so should i even bother buying the tokyo pop ones? I have a lot of the comics, but since they aren't even going to print those anymore, I wanted to buy the manga's.

But since they might redo them backwards maybe i should just wait huh?

Considering it sounds like the licenses are being lost for good for the anime, you might want to buy them just in case the same thing happens to the manga. I know I'm still missing 4 volumes of the US version of the manga that I need to track down just in case but I've been putting it off so I can buy the rest of the anime (minus the dub only Classic/R episodes).

If you manage to find copies of the orignal...go ahead and pick them up. It's still very up in the air whether or not anyone will go ahead and redo the comics, and the printing that TokyoPop/MixxZine put out is going for LOTS of money in the backissue market; comic issues 1-4 average about $16 each in some places.
