I love the first Sailor Stars cover. It's just so much better than the old cel-shaded one.

I have no freaking clue how to order from CD Japan.

But tell me how, and Happy Early Birthday.

That's about how much it costs to get an anime DVD in Canada. My one SuperS DVD cost about 40 dollars. The Signature Series costs about $24, but they're very hard to find (actually all Sailor Moon DVDs are hard to find because B.C. sucks >_<). I'd kill to pay that much for the remastered DVDs.

BTW, are any respectable, trust worthy fansubbing groups using the new remastered DVDs?

Hello, I'm a newbie here! :D
I plan to buy all the toei dvd though I have all the episodes on region 1 dvds and bootleg for Saillor Stars!
I have a few questions: CD Japan's description of volume 8 of SMR doesn't mention episode 89. Is this episode missing on the dvds?
And is audio quality good even if it's mono? Better than R1 dvds?
Thanks!

Welcome to the forums! One of our admins made comment on the episode content and the audio quality in an earlier post:
MarioKnight wrote:...Extras on the disc include the clean OP and ED, and the 15 second next episode previews strung up all in a row, minus the preview for episode 90, though that preview is still on the disc following episode 89. Something that I've never noticed all these years until today is that the 4 corner OP of episode 89 is kanji-less. And yes, I did just check my old fansubs to double check. As for the episodes themselves, the sound is about as good as it can get considering it's in mono, and I can't really comment too much on the video since I don't have much to compare it with and it's been years since I've seen these episodes...
I assume the audio quality is better than what we got on the R1s, but I'll let Dan reply later to confirm.

Oh, and to continue using the forums, you need to input your birthday into your member profile. Thanks :)

The audio quality on the R boxset made me cry, because the episode where "La Soldier" plays, the audio was terrible...then the next episode, which isn't even a real episode, just a little pieced together recap thing, the audio was great...better than any of the other episodes...what the hell?

Something I've always been curious about is why this happens at the bottom of the screen every so many scene changes, on all the American DVDs, both from ADV and Pioneer/Genon...it's the strangest thing I've ever seen, and yet they all do it.

That, my friend is not Geneon or ADV's fault. If I remeber correctly, it's the effect of using cheap TV cel animation. From what I understand, it's a problem that can't be fixed. (in other words, it's on the Japanese DVDs as well)

I've seen other shows have this problem. (Cutey Honey Flash, Pokemon)

Interesting...I wasn't aware of this...though they could easily fix it with current technology...hell, I could easily fix it.

Sailor Moon DVD stock

Post by Lothos » Mon Aug 08, 2005 9:45 am

Do you think we'll be able to purchase the japanese R2 dvds in 5 years? Or are the these dvds in limited edition? Because there are a lot of dvds and I can't afford them all now...

MOD EDIT: Merged with the existing R2-DVD thread.

Well no, because they'll be R1's if they ever get locally sold.=p

But who knows...considering the treatment of Sailor Moon in the states so far, I'm really not counting on it and am tempted to just go ahead and import the new Japanese set, even though I won't have any subs.

I mean, will we be still able to import japanese dvds in some 1-2--5 years? Won't they be out of print?

I doubt it. These R2 DVDs aren't limited edition (I think the boxes are though). :)

I got my box in the mail today. It's just so beautiful, even better than the S box. And for those of you who are wondering, on the top is the Amazoness Quartet, Amazon Trio, and Helios. Nehelenia, and Zirconia aren't on the box.

The coverart is boring. It's just Serenity and Chibiusa on a plain pink background. It's a shame since the LCDs had very nice backgrounds. The back cover is very nice, giving a little summary and screencap on each episode on the disc (162-166). There are also images of Serenity and Chibiussa, Nehelenia, Super Sailor Moon and Chibimoon. The discart is pretty much the same as the cover. No insert, although they're are two Ads inside (not related to Sailor Moon). The bonus keychain is nothing to get exicted about, it's just a small image of the cover in a pink tone. But it is cute.

The only extras on the disc are clean opening/ending, and 15 sec. next episode previews. The clean op/ed was a HUGE letdown. The picture was very washed out, and grainy. Same goes for the 15 sec. previews. However, the normal opening (used in the episodes) has a bright, cleaned up picture. However, even the normal ending is grainy. (What's up with that Toei?) Aside from the ending song, everything else is very clean and looks great. (the audio is SO much better than the Pioneer discs)

The menus are better than the SMS DVDs. It's the Crystal Forest, with a clipshow of various scenes from the DVD, with the opening them song playing. The chapter menu is a blue, 'starry' background with Super Sailor Moon and Chibimoon.

If anyone wants scans of the cover, the keychain, or anything let me know.

*_* I can't decide which is more gorgeous. Kakyuu looks stunning in that new style.

Someone make desktop backgrounds out of these now. Now I say, Now!!! *cracks whip*

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I agree. It's basically the same art as before, but these versions are so much nicer than the original art.

Sorry for going off topic, but I have to.....

Tiff, I find that after a while, people buy the DVDs and scan up the covers, so I'll keep my eye out for bigger versions. Your graphics really kick ass, so you should really make a multimedia section for them! /OT
