Actually, the only anime thing about it was that the topics had anime inside jokes in them. The words were just normal words, like the regular pyramid game. There were the regular rounds, and then the winner's circle (aka, category round.)Sailorasteroid wrote:
Not fair for Tiffu-sama to play against mere mortals, but for that many DVD's, I guess it's ok. XD Please, tell us about the play of the game(Sailorasteroid <3 Pyramid): what kind of words had to be guessed? Anime character names? (veteran Pyramid viewers will know names are always the worst) Or just words associated with anime? Was there a category round?

I think Tiffu described the trip well enough. Though, I got to be on Pyramid as well, as an audience participant. I was the only audience member to get all six of my words. My reward? The Golden Boy DVD.
Oh, and I must declare my love for the people who run the game shows. Cynical, sarcastic, and bitchy, the lot of them. But they have to be nice during the actual shows. We got there early, and spent the time making fun of the scary fanboys and fangirls with the game show hosts. It was great.

Tiff did do a good job talking about the trip, but I must chime in my parts, especially the parts where I wandered off. More details on my trip and the con will be in my weblog later, by tomorrow definite. Before that, Tiff said Derek nearly killed us going over a set of railroad tracks, where I must disagree. He was just showing me more of kickass Texas driving skills. We merely went over two tracks on the top of a hill at around 50 mph and bounced decently high right after we ran a stop sign. Personally, I wouldn't have slowed down after noticing I had passed the sign and gone over the tracks faster to actually get some airtime in. =P
So my first trip away from the group was when I was entering in Funimation's contest, where you filled out a quick survey, and every hour they would pick out five of them and give the winners a DVD. I couldn't find the group when I was done, so I decided to familiarize myself with where everything was. I then stayed on the third floor where the arcade was and took mental notes of what games were there and how much and where a change machine was. There were tables with water spouts all about the con, and just as I was getting a drink of water, an ADV staff member (I think he was a VA) asked me if I wanted to go to the premiere of the Super Milk-chan Show. I said I would and asked when and where it was, and it was just about to start in the room of the doors we were right outside of. So I took a seat, some of the VAs introduced themselves, Hilary Haag is really hot, and they started up the show, combining scenes from the show as well as backstage in the hallways of ADV Films. This show is really hilarious and I recommend everyone to buy it when it starts coming out next month. I know I will be.
As Tiff said, I can eat. You couldn't tell by looking at me, but I can pile down food like nothing else when I get hungery. At the pizza shop, we got a pizza that was 20" in diameter, cut into eight even slices. I had four of those. And I downed them in about the same amount of time the others took to finish theirs, adding on a couple minutes when I was working on that last slice. (More examples of my eating skills is that I eat a medium Domino's pizza by myself within like half an hour, and will probably order one up later after I'm done typing this post because I'm STARVED right now)
As mentioned, I kinda paid for eating so much, because when we got back to the hotel and after swimming, we went to the third floor, where DDR was finally back on (for whatever reason, the DDR machines were off for a few hours). I decided to take advantage of the machines and had gotten a few hard played rounds until about 1:30 - 2 AM. However, my playing was horrible. I can usually look decent playing with people who are elite at DDR, but I was barely passing songs. At first I thought it might've just been me being intimitiated by their awesome skills, but when I started feeling sick, I figured it was the pizza. I thought I had waited long enough to play after eating, guess I was wrong.
Saturday I broke off from them when they were trying out for the game shows and their picnic. I didn't really want to try out for the shows since I'm not confident enough in my ability for those shows, and I wanted to go to studio panels. Much to my dismay, there were only three major panels (Funi, ADV, Bandai), but I was in all three of them. I first noticed that all the arcade machines were moved into a closed off area now instead of spread out, with a small opening where you can purchase a bracelet that allowed you to play all the games set on free play for $10 for the 6 hour period (12 - 6, 6 - 12, etc), which was a great deal if you didn't play DDR. I started the line for Funi's panel half hour before start time, and was there for the whole panel. Lance talked about what he did and all the work done to get anime released over here, which was great to finally know something about the production process, then he listed off release dates, and then announced the acquisition of Gunslinger Girls, and that 4kids was allowing them to release uncut Shaman King and Yu-Gi-Oh with subs and uncut dubs (SK will still have the SatAM names in the dub though, sub will be intact). He then revealed to us the LE figures of Eclaire and Luminare from Kiddy Grade, which look gorgeous. I couldn't figure out if you can zoom with my housemate's camera, but with the really high res I've mentioned, hopefully my shot of them came out well, I'll post it when I play with the pic. There was Q&A, then he passed out extra Tenchi Muyo GXP calendars (that were packed in the boxes) and Full Metal Alchemist pins as parting gifts.
There was two hours between the end of Funi's panel and the start of ADV's, so I went to the room for some food, and was very quiet to not wake Derek up. After picking up some freebies in the GameStop room, I got in the beginnings of the line for ADV's panel like an hour before their panel. They made their announcements (Mermaid Melody was the first one, there were two more), then showed off new trailers they had just finished (Excel Saga box, GetBackers, and Chrono Crusade). There was a long Q&A afterwards, with any questions on any series they hadn't announced being "we can neither confirm nor deny" as they can't let any info out until they have permission from liscensors. You think after a couple of questions of that sort people would've gotten a clue, yet close to 40% of the Q&A time was waster on the idiots who didn't get that clue. They had trivia after, giving DVDs and manga for each correct answer. Bandai's panel was right after ADV's in a different room on the floor, so there was a bunch of us, including David Williams of ADV, scurring over there. I was sitting behind someone giving play-by-play on IRC, if I remember correctly it was #animecentral on the EnterTheGame servers. Jerry showed us parts of the first episode of their new acquisition, Dear Boys, and was going to show the entire episode of the other acquistion (whose name escaps me) dubbed, but a bunch of people complained when they heard English voices, so he turned it off. Assholes. He then went to a Q&A, giving away various merchandise to anyone who asked a question.
The Psycho Le Cemu concert was a good concert, very glad we saw that. Tiff already explained the elevator person, so no need to say anything about that. I just kept quiet, thinking about how stupid one would have to be to be so clueless and rude and such. Tiff said you could see a vein twicthing in my forehead, but I highly doubt it. The rave dance thing was great, been a long time since I've been to a dance of any sort so I was having fin dancing away to the beats.
As Tiff said, on Sunday she won the Pyramid. She failed to mention she nearly took out a camera during it. After she won the Samuari X OVA box, she tossed it over to us, but threw a bit too hard. Good laughs from everyone there. Also, the girl who Tiff went up against in the final round was a psycho. Just the way she was acting when she won her round, and then after she lost and was picking out some DVDs in the winner's circle round where Tiff was getting more yen, the girl had an evil grin and cackle and scurried off, and yes, I mean scurried.
We then took Parakisu and Lydia back to the airport and then went back to Tiff and Derek's place. Derek went to the gaming center, and me and Tiff were going to go a bit later (we were taking turns on her cpu and watching tv), but then storms came so we stayed in and Derek came home with a friend and alcohol, so we all drank watching Adult Swim, fun times.
-_-;; And that's the shortened version. I'm dreading finishing the longer one (started on the train last night).

I just recently met two people back in March that I met on a message board about two years ago and have been talking to on AIM ever since, so I thought I'd ask you guys a question that I asked them after they met me. I asked them what they thought of me and if I was what they expected me to be/act like. You three have pretty much have told everyone what you guys thought of the others, but did you guys have preconceptions of what the others would be like? And did their personalities in real life match what you thought? Just curious. =)

Definitely. I figured Dan to be much louder than he actually was, but he's very calm and reserved until you actually get him laughing about something. It usually takes the other person(s) to get him going.LilEva wrote:You three have pretty much have told everyone what you guys thought of the others, but did you guys have preconceptions of what the others would be like? As for Parakisu...hrm..he was pretty much how I expected, only sweeter <3

Wow, lots of points for NGH for taking the time to dig stuff up. Let all other members take note of this when saying they can't find threads about subjects. ^_~ Good job!
