Two updates from teh Tiffu?! If this were a Chinese calendar, 2005 would be year of teh Tiffu!

I also agree with you on Stephanie's voice. I think the problem with the old voice (Tracy Hoyt) was that it could only express one emotion; brat. I find that Stephanie can do a bigger variety of emotions. I also liked your point about squeaky being okay only on characters that fit it. Squeakiness should never taint those who orginally had deep, strong voices like Galaxia, or Pluto, or Star Maker (that one would be scary <_<;)

Well said, Tiffu! You took the words right out of my mouth. Personally, I think Sugar (Stephanie Beard now hosts The Zone on YTV and that's a nickname she goes by) did a better job for Rini than the previous voice actress, because of what Peachy already stated, she seems better able to portray a wide range of emotions.

Tiff wrote:...Where and how do you gather this assessment? I dislike high-pitched on voices on characters that do not have a high-pitched voice in the original. Would you stick a high-pitched voice on, say, Sailor Galaxia? Or Nehelenia? No, becuase it wouldn't fit their character. Therefore, it's not that we dislike "squeaky" voices...it's what we dislike them on characters it does not fit.
Gah! Now I can't get the image of Nehelenia with Minnie Mouse's voice out of my head. ><*

I do agree with you, though. To me, Stephanie Beard was a very good choice for "Rini," especially when compared to some of the other sub-par choices that were made for the dub. She was capable of conveying more emotion than Tracy Hoyt, and I believe it was one of the best casting choices they made. Stephanie would have sucked as "Amara," but she was good as Rini. (Not that I particularly like the choice they made for Haruka/Amara...)

While I agree that Stephanie Beard's voice was not too high or squeaky for Rini, there is this too: of all the voice actresses, and I include her Japanese one, Beard was the only one who never put malice into her voice when the character confronted Usagi/Serena. She was the only one who understood that when Rini criticized Serena's clumsiness, it was in the manner of a child who is perturbed at something which affects her, and not in the manner of an adult who is passing judgement. That made the character much more acceptable.
Things I think Are Funny Early in the Morning: If Batman were a Smurf: "Quick, Robin! We must smurf down to the Batcave and smurf the Batplane! Then we must smurf the batsmurf so we can smurf where the Joker is smurfing!"

The Croonerism Spate (explanations upon request)
Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

I read that her mother even calls her Sugar. I remember that when S premeired here in Canada she just started working on the Zone and answered some fan mail asking if she was Rini's voice. She said that she was (of course) and said that she used to watch Sailormoon back when it was on (meaning the old DIC episodes). So it's nice that she was a Sailormoon fan when she was dubbing. I think she said she was 18 when she got the part of Rini (to date, she's only 24).

:offtopic: has anyone heard her Eminem paradoy? It's pretty damn funny.

I remember watching the Zone when she said that! I no longer watch the Zone though, since they took all the good shows off.
