MarioKnight wrote:Just added a small little mod to help protect against double posting, and when testing it it looks like double posts will finally be a thing of the past. But the really cool thing I just added is a spell check feature. Now when typing or editing posts, there's a spell check button you can press to pop-up a window that spell checks through your posts. Enjoy! ^_^
Does anyone else note the irony of the fact that this was announced in what will presumably be the last double post ever? ^_^
But it's a great thing to have, because I think we've all accidently doubled at one point or another and now we won't. Yay for Dan!

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."

Eh, I meant double posting in a technical sense, not when someone makes a post, then types something new up a few minutes later. This mod protects against the posts where someone makes a post, presses back on their browser and a window pops up saying that the page needs to resend the data to load again, and then people click refresh on that notice, making a duplicate post. With this mod, the page where the actual posting is done (between the typing page and the thread with the new post) no longer appears when clicking the back button on the browser, so now that window won't even appear for a duplicate post to have a chance to be made. Though trying to do something to not have users do the "post then new one a few minutes later" isn't a bad idea if there's code to do that or if I can figure something out.

Wow, thank you so much Dan!

That's so cool new things you've added. I really appreciate the double-post stopper, as I sometimes have problems with my internet connection, so sometimes double posts happen by mistake.
Thank you so much!

Another new toy here, a reference BB code. It lets you create a link to a reference site with the string given. You can pick between a dictionary, thesaurus, or a translator. How it works:
Dictionary
[ref=dict]string[/ref]
Thesaurus
[ref=thes]string[/ref]
Translator
[ref=trans]string[/ref]
Enjoy!

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Thanx everyone. ^_^
Though not really a new feature, I tweaked some code so now when anyone makes site links as clickable words, those words are now automatically underlined so it's more obvious that it's a link.

Dan.... some double posts are still getting through, and I haven't seen the links get underlined?
I have a cap with the double post I'm referring to (deleted the excess post in the original topic), if you want it.

....That wouldn't change the appearance of a post at all, and several members of the board already use something like that.

Yeah, I just noticed a duplicate post too, meh. >.< Works like a charm on my Firefox, but I just tested with IE and it doesn't do the same thing for whatever reason, so I'm gonna look into it sometime soon. As for the links, I know those are working perfectly, the effect worked immediately for me and every computer I've access the forums from since then, so I'm not sure what to say about that.

Wow, did that last comment come back and bite me in the ass. >.< -_-;;; On my parents' computer with IE, the links don't appear underlined either, which now just totally fucks with my head. I've got this added into my list of shit to look into when I'm back at my place tomorrow. Sorry for doubting you about it and hopefully I'll have it fixed for real soon.
Edit four hours later: Well, I've figured it out, and have it fixed, so now this time, all clickable links are underlined for everyone now.

It's always worked in my Mozilla browser, so I understand. ^^
And I can confirm that it's working in IE now too.

Added in some code to help reduce the size of thread pages, so quote and code boxes are now smaller boxes with scroll bars, with the ability to click expand to make them normal size and contract for back to smaller box, as well as a select the text in the box to copy or whatnot.
Also added in some code that will actually stop the double post problem no matter what browser is used.

Dan, you are officially the boot that has kicked the biggest ass in the world. That is so cool. I bet it saves a ton of bandwidth.

Oh, ho, ho, Sailorasteroid like!
The fact that there's a button to expand it is very courteous--you have the choice of space or scroll. Super-convenient. Really, this is the best forum for perks like that.
