Hrm.

Why don't you PM me or one of the other moderators and we'll take care of it for you. Unless I'm completely blind, I can't find where a normal user can change their e-mail address OR password o_o

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I'll look into it Thursday evening, I was busy all day today and will be all day tomorrow too. I open Thursday and don't have anything going on that I know of afterwards.

After playing around with the settings and testing them with another account, as the board is now, there's no way for addresses to be changed by the user themselves with how secure I locked down account creation (re: no accounts are made except by me manually). So it's time to change a few things until I get around to upgrading the forums in a few weeks (re: I'm not doing coding shit on this PC that's on its deathbed, laptop on the way when I get my tax return).

Changing e-mail addresses can be done manually now through the registering tab in the profile menu. You will have to enter your current password to do this, then press submit. This will temporarily deactivate your account however an e-mail will be sent to your new addy with a link to click that will activate it.

The side effect of this is that people will be able to make accounts on their own again, activating their accounts in a similar manner as described above. Normally I would be somewhat against this because of all the issues in the past with bots and whatnot, but between my script for requesting accounts not working for months and not having any new accounts made in that time frame, as well as all the time that has gone by and not remembering the details that made me go all apeshit about a locked down process to make accounts, I'm willing to see how this turns out. I have enough time and ability to see if accounts are by real people or not, and I hate that I haven't done anything in months to make it possible for new people to participate in these forums. I may or may not change this when I get these forums upgraded depending on (a) how that software works and (b) how these weeks leading into that turns out.

In short, y'all have the ability to change your e-mail again, and there might be an influx of new users after this.

While we had a couple of real people make accounts after the switch, we had over three times as many spambots able to gain instant entry. So I've got it turned back off for the time being. When I get a new laptop with my tax return I'll be able to code things better, but until that I'm not touching code on this PC that's on its last legs.
