Oh that's right (I never read the English versions). Raindrop was from the Stars dub rumour a few years back. That's why it was in the back of my mind.

Actually Raindrop sounds cooler than creator, even though the later is closer.

But Star Gentle Uterus is so much fun to talk about in public. Especially at clinics and ice cream stores. :D

But raindrop and uterus are both kinda weird attack names to me, especially if we put them both in the same sentence. It just makes me think of really freaky things that give people bad images. ^^;;;;;;;;

One could argue that some of the DiC attack names do not make sense either.

Mars Fire Ignite- it is already ignited by the time she says this

Venus Crescent Beam Smash- How is that little beam supposed to smash anything?

Mars Celestial Fire Surround- It doesnt surround anything, maybe they were trying to make it less violent?

Venus Love Chain Encircle- It doesnt encircle its target. Tying it up and encircling are two different things.

I kind of wish they added something to the transformation phrases. They may have not liked make up, but they could have added "transform". I think they actually did that in an episode. That would have spared up from "MOOOOOOOOOOON PRRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSMMMMMM POOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEER!"

Well... Mar's does have those littl fire balls circle ma-gigs that pop up right before she does that attack.

As much as I love the Make-up part of the henshin I think leaving it out was for the better as far as Englsih goes. it would just look and sound retarded in english (So would transform... try saying it outloud.)

Well, actually...

man·da·la Audio pronunciation of "Mandala" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (mnd-l)
n.

Any of various ritualistic geometric designs symbolic of the universe, used in Hinduism and Buddhism as an aid to meditation.

Burning Mandala makes more sense, becuase after the little balls (which I believe are lanterns, but I could be wrong...that's simply what I've read and how it looks to me), they turn into Mandalas.

Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

I know its been a few days since the last post but..

If we are really talking about adapting the attacks to work in english, there would be no attack names at all. It only works in japanese because culturally saying random english words is cool and the meaning is often irrelevant - it takes on its own meaning. If the soldiers (aka scouts - since we're talking about the english version) were to say anything at all during their attacks, it would probably make the most sense for them to say conversational things to their enemies such as 'take that' or 'let's you see you survive this' etc. There would also probably be a lot of grunting and screaming as well.
:shock:

o.O how are attacks like "Fire soul" and "Burning Mandala" random and nonsensical? They make perfect sense in English. They aren't random words. I could see "Venus Love-me Chain" being a little nonsensical, but that can easily be changed to "Venus Lovely Chain", with no problem.

Love-Me chain kicks ass... I bet it would cooler if the chains, like, glowed or something.

Ah, see that does make sense. I always though a Mandala was just another word for magma or lava or something to that effect. (a combination?)

i never liked the fact they removed "male up" from the transformation phrases, it always sounded like something was missing. also it annoyed me they changed attack names seeins as they are all ALREADY in english....maybe they did it just because they wanted to annoy us fans...

*ADMIN MODE*

Please do NOT double post. This against the rules:

Double posts
Double posting is posting more than one time in a row in a thread in a very short timeframe. Double posting is not allowed. If you remembered something you wanted to post after you just posted, please edit the newly made post, rather than make a new one. Once again, big waste of space and bandwidth, please don't do it.

I'm also aware that there are double posts that end up being duplicate posts. This usually happens due to pressing "back" on your web browser and it asks you if you'd like to resend the information. Instead of clicking yes, click no, as if you click yes you will send your post a second time causing a duplicate post.

Sorry for reviving an old thread.

I think they should have done something with Make Up in the dub. It sounds really awkard when they drag out the transformation phrase. Mooooon Prisimmmmm Powerrrrr. In fact a lot of times in the dub they would say the phrases weird to match the lip movements. I think they should have just said Make Over or something. Since the Sailor Soldiers are technically getting made over.

Agreed. In fact, why was "Make Up" removed in the first place anyways? Fears that the the boys wouldn't watch it if those words were said?

DiC = ばか

They should've just left it as is.
