Having the right to discriminate doesn't mean it's going to happen. If there are enough students who aren't acceptable at one school, they can be taken at another. In a private school system, students are a source of revenue, so schools have a vested financial interest in getting as many as possibl...

Corporations can be worse, but they can also be a lot better. Private school kids generally do better academically, but of course they are the ones who come from families that can afford private school. So, while it might not work nationwide, we should at least try to let the profit motive work whe...

@_@??? What's that? What does it do? Can you eat it? Is it a popular new snack? (Seriously though I don't know what it is). The cute little Candian girl doesn't stay up to date with Bushwacker's ramblings (though the cute little Canadian girl would rather listen to Bushy's drivlings than Chretien s...

I love Maruchan ramen especially the chicken flavor, though the beef flavor is ok. I don't like cups of noodles as much especially the ones with vegtables floating around in them. I'm really picky about vegtables. I prefer the brick of noodles with the little packet of chicken or beef flavoring.

I haven't watched enough Pokemon to know that much about Team Rocket, but from what I've heard about them, the Superfriends could kick their asses. Well maybe not the one with Wendy and Marvin and Wonderdog, but I'm sure the Wonder Twins could.

Re: The American School System

If there's anything worse than the state of education in the schools, it's the state of socialization. We want to train our children for the adult world, we say. Then we stick them in a place that resembles nothing like it. In the adult world, people don't form cliques for the sole purpose of exclu...

In most of the Batman movies I thought the villains were more interesting, particularly Nicholson's Joker in the first one and Jim Carrey's Riddler in the third one. I will continue to stand by that GoGo Yubari was the best character in Kill Bill. I still wanted Beatrix/The Bride to be triumphant on...

Tokyo Godfathers

Has anyone seen this movie? I had to miss it during the week that it was playing in theaters near me, but I just recently got it from Netflix and I enjoyed it. It's about 3 homeless people (a man with a hidden past, a drag queen and a teen runaway) who find an abandoned baby on Christmas and try to ...

Question to all those who said they had AS - Do you guys have siblings? Like lots of brothers and sisters or are you all only children? And if you aren't only children are you close to your siblings? Just wondering. I have one younger sister, and I wouldn't say we're extremely close but we see each...

I got Sailor Venus, though I would have prefered Sailor Mars since she's my favorite. I'm guessing it's because I tried to fill it out as truthfully for me as possible instead of the obvious ones, and my astrological sign is Libra and out of the possible careers I'd most like to be famous. It just w...

I'm 23, and I didn't even start watching Sailor Moon until around the time I turned 20. I guess you could say I was too old for it from the very beginning, but if you only limit yourself to things that other people say're the right age for where's the fun in that?

I've seen the first 10 episodes so far, and I've been enjoying it. I was a fan of Lain and I like shows that make you think, even if you don't always understand exactly what the hell is going on. Can't wait to see the rest of it.

Night on the Galactic Railroad. It's supposed to be a kids movie and it's full of all these surrealistic images, many of which don't make any sense. And to top it all off the characters are all anthropomorphic cat people, except for this one family who died on the Titanic who comes in towards the en...

Gundam Wing: I watched about half of this series but never got into it, and finally decided to just give up. Never even tried to get into any other Gundam series since this. It's just not my thing. Nadia: First I bought the first two videos of the original Carl Macek dub (where all the episodes are...

I think Serial Experiments Lain or Haibane Renmei would both make good deeply philosophical and surrealistic/mind-fuck movies. If they did American versions they'd have to get David Lynch or Tim Burton to direct.

I've never played any of the Final Fantasy video games, but I enjoyed The Spirits Within a lot. The plot didn't bother me like it did some people (I don't really mind the quasi-New Age thing so I actually found it creative) but I agree it was the graphics that made the movie. I own it on DVD now. Th...

I love Evanescence as well. I do find some of their songs to be sad, but that doesn't bother me. When I'm feeling depressed (which can be quite often unfortunately, see the Depression thread) sometimes I like to just listen to depressing music and bring it on as much as I can. When I was going throu...

I have Asperger's Syndrome as well, which I was diagnosed with in 10th grade. The way I usually hear it described is as a mild form of autism with social impairments but no developmental impairments. That's pretty much how I've been for most of my life. I tend to always try and avoid social situatio...
