What would you name your kids?

Post by Panda » Thu Sep 28, 2006 3:29 pm

Just a fun thread. What would you name your (future?) children. Would you name them something in a particular order? What about twins?

Girls:

Amanda (Amy): As odd as it is I really started liking this name because of the Sailor Moon dub.

Julia: I just think it's pretty... sounds like jewels...

Lauren: But only if the kid was born on August 22nd... a tribute to a cousin :)

Darlene: I am absolutely in love with this name! I'm a huge fan of the old-fashioned stuff (movies and life-styles more or less) and this name just fits so well with that. It also means darling.

Michelle:
I love this name, the only problem is there are like... 5 Michelle's in my family so it would weird for my kid to have this name.

Lena: I'm a Lena Katina fan...

Boys

James: It's just such a handsome name to me...

Graham: I've always had a thing for this name for some reason. I'm usually not a fan of G names.

Jackson: My brothers name. I've always liked it.

Cameron: I'm not sure why I like this name either but it sounds petty :)

Anyway, no need to take this thread to seriously. Just have fun with it.

I adore the name Trinity, even before it became popular damnit >.<. I also love names after nature, like Violet, Rose, Hazel (tree), but nothing too hippy-like, ya know? :P

As for boys...I'm not sure yet. Every guy name seems to common or too weird-sounding, and I'm just very picky about it. I have to think extra hard about this when I have children.

"Snakes say sss."
"Lions chase people."
And of course…”Tigers bite you.”

And one from me...Leopards are gorgeous.

There was already a topic similar to this, but it got locked due to fights and a general lack of respect. BUT I'm going to leave it open because it's a good topic that deserves a second shot. Hopefully things won't get of hand this time. This topic will be unlocked unless another mod/admin feels differently.

And really, why shouldn't we be afraid? In case you haven't heard, life is terminal. Cigarettes will kill you. So will your cellphone. Your car is a deadly weapon and alcohol is a quiet killer. Don't lick the lead-based paint on the walls. Don't lick the back of a postage stamp and certainly don't lick any strangers! That will bring you down quickly indeed. Don't drink the water but don't drink less than eight glasses a day. Your enviroment is toxic, your natural resources are dwindling, your days are numbered, but what ever you do, don't panic! The stress, don't you know, will kill you.

My top ten ^_^:

1. Vivika- sounds very elegant and classy to me, yet, at the same time, very fresh.
2. Genevieve- the most elegant of this bunch, seems like a name a queen might have.
3.Neoma- means new moon which reminds me of a very special, err, favorite  , of mine.
4.Rebecca- sounds very feminine, and just sweet in general, without being too sweet.
5.Sonya- I just like this name because it just sounds melodic, flowing, etc.
6.Lydia- reminds me of pretty fountains for some odd reason 0_o
7.Nineve- cute, short, and mysterious.
8.Alima- a name I made up myself. It sounds like the name of a fantasy world to me.
9.Selena-When I first found out about Sailormoon, a friend of mine told me Sailormoon's name was Selena. It stuck. (of course that isn't her real name, dub or original but that's not the point.)
10.Shia- mainly because Shia-sama is my favorite character from Pita-Ten.

Yes, I'm from Saudi Arabia. Kurapika's pretty much the only non-Arabic name on that list.

Don't about girls but for boys:

Cornelius
Theodore
Alexander

I like these because they are nice, strong sounding names.
Everybody was a baby once, Arthur. Oh, sure, maybe not today, or even yesterday. But once. Babies, chum: tiny, dimpled, fleshy mirrors of our us-ness, that we parents hurl into the future, like leathery footballs of hope. And you''ve got to get a good spiral on that baby, or evil will make an interception.

My ideas for kids names have changed recently. For boys I'd still pick Jack because I love that name so much, but I've also considered Gabriel. I'm not so sure for girls now. Maybe Jacqueline (don't laugh, but I thought this was a guys name and the long version of Jack >_>).

Of course if I marry an Italian guy I'll see if Pesca is a legitimate name for a girl ^______^

If I ever have a daughter, I'd name her Katherine Grace, after my two grandmothers. It's rather old fashioned, but it sounds very pretty to me, and has meaning.

I've never thought much about boys names...I'd probably name my son after my husband, if my husband wanted that. I like the name Jacob a lot though.

Boy:
Aidan ("Fire.")
Sean ("God is gracious.")
Charles ("Warrior.")
Alexander ("Defending man.")
Montezuma Maximus 3000*

Girl:
Gabrielle ("Strong [wo]man of God.")
Shauna (*points to Sean*)
Charlie (*...points to Charles*)
Alexandria (Do I really have to?)
Trillium Cupcake*

I just put a short meaning next to the name to stop myself from getting long-winded. I used the meanings of the root names, so don't whack me with an Etymology Stick, okay?

John
Micheal
Ed

Girls
Jody
Katrica
Dayna

Just a few names that sound good to the ears.

for some reason, i've always loved the names emily and grace. back in the days of playing with baby dolls, one of my babies would always be named either emily or grace, so one (or both) of those i know i'll be using someday. oh yeah, and i've alwasy loved rose (its my middle name, my aunts name, and my grandma's name, and therfor has always been my favorite flower).

for a guy, im not sure yet, but i want something original. like maybe skylar or something.

An old friend of mine's brother's name is Cade. I always thought his name was very pretty and original. :)

Be careful with this one, there is a bit of a pun involved. Dr. Spooner described his visit to a castle: "In the center of the fortress was the Palace Court. The gated entrance to this area was the court palace."
