I highly doubt in the anime they're in kindergarten. They look far older than that.SailorSpace wrote:

And I LOVE Buttercup in the American cartoon. And hell, I may like her int he anime. I just didn't like what I heard of her voice. *shrugs* I can dislike a voice, but like a character.
Joey: The question is, Rachel, does he like you? ''Cuz if he doesn''t, then it''s all just a moo point.
Rachel: Huh...a...moo point?
Joey: Yeah. It''''s like a cow''s opinion. It doesn''t matter....It''s moo.

Aww, I think Buttercup's voice is cool. ^^ Suits her!
But... yeah, I don't really like her new look so much.
In that weird henshin-ish scene, I could tell what Buttercup and Blossom were saying but I had no idea what Bubbles is saying in them. -blink-
Even after I read it on the site, what she says makes no sense. Though that could just be the not-so high-quality recordings fault and not the seiyuu's.
Blossom's hair is so pretty and flow-y. ^^
...
I highly doubt they're in kindy garden... though... if they are, it wouldn't be THAT weird, it's anime. Haruka from Pokemon is supposed to be ten years old... and she's more, erm- devoloped then Misty who (in the manga atleast) is twelve!

OK. I roughly -repeat ROUGHLY- and therefore probably incorrectly, translated their Japanese names using a few websites and a dictionary. Hope I'm somewhat right...*is doubtful*
Blossom: Momoko Akatsutsumi Peach [Girl] of the Red Dawn
Buttercup: Kaoru Matsubara Scent of the Pine Tree Rose
Bubbles: Miyako Goutokuji Capital Robbery
I think Bubble's is the weirdest/funniest. It's so out there, lol. But they're probably all wrong.
Anyway, hope this is somewhat helpful or that someone who is more fluent in Japanese could do a better translation. ^_^

Another word for bubbles is 'shabon'. Remember from BSSM? "Shabon Spray!"Pomme-Pomme wrote:OK. I roughly -repeat ROUGHLY- and therefore probably incorrectly, translated their Japanese names using a few websites and a dictionary. Hope I'm somewhat right...*is doubtful*

Actually, I think Mercury's anime attack was 'Sabao Spray' using the Portuguese word for bubbles...
Edit: Yeah. Here's a link to one of Dies Gaudii's articles that mentions this:

But I remember 'shabon spray' from a BSSM song called Tsuki Ni Kawatte Oshikiyo (On behalf of the moon, I shall punish you). They also play the song in the background of the anime episode. I forget the title of it though. It's the one where the youma attacks the anime studio. Perhaps both terms we mentioned can be used?Pomme-Pomme wrote:Actually, I think Mercury's anime attack was 'Sabao Spray' using the Portuguese word for bubbles...

Well, in that same article you posted, the attack is indeed "Shabon Spray." Ian was just explaining that the orgin of the word came from the Portuguese language, just as you say, and goes on to say why the katakana "n" was added to the word. So, as RT said, "shabon" is another word for bubbles. While it was derived from another language/culture (as many words do), this doesn't mean it's not another word for the word.Pomme-Pomme wrote:Actually, I think Mercury's anime attack was 'Sabao Spray' using the Portuguese word for bubbles...

Shabon is another word for bubbles, so... is this why, in the S movie, Mercury says "Bubble Spray" instead of "shabon Spray"?MarioKnight wrote:Well, in that same article you posted, the attack is indeed "Shabon Spray." I'm glad this series is still in production. For a while, I was starting to wonder if the project had fallen through because there wasn't any new info about it lately and the way Wikipedia's article about it was written in a past tense made me start to wonder if it was never going to happen. Hopefully, it'll be released soon because I'm really looking forward to this.

Stay AWAY from the Wikipedia article.

Yep. It debuted in Japan on July 01. Already it's received some quite..mixed reactions on our shore. I have no idea what the Japanese fans would think, but as with a lot of adaptations, there's controversy.
Honestly? I think it's a cool idea. As time goes by, different takes on old properties can be intriguing, even if the results end up being disastrous (after all, there can be a better take on it sometime AFTER the disaster)..
I'm interested to see the takes on the different villains, and of course, if any more supporting/incidental characters from the original show make the 'cut'.
Is it just me, or does Ken Utonium (the professor's son in the anime) look a lot like Shotaro Kaneda/Jimmy Sparks of Tetsujin 28, or rather, Gigantor? I don't know..that was my first thought.
The girls' transformations are a tad long, but very reminiscient of the Doremi ones. Overall, I'd say the show looks pretty cute
