Senshi Colors

Post by smfan423 » Fri May 23, 2008 2:13 am

Okay, quick question:

How do you suppose each of the senshi got their color? I know Red for Mars is rather obvious and Neptune is also equally obvious. What about Saturn or Uranus, though? Why purple for Saturn? Was it just because or was there some mythology about the planet or god that relates to purple.

Thoughts, comments, answers?

Okay, so I was bored at work and found this website that explains colors:
http://www.sensationalcolor.com/content ... y/5/43/144

Here are a couple of things that I found interesting that goes along with why maybe Takeuchi-sensei decided to use these colors:

Blue (Mercury)
1. seen as trustworthy, dependable, and commited
2. calms and sedates (cools)
3. aids intuition
4. communication with others

Indigo (Uranus)
1. symbolizes a mystical borderland of wisdom, self-mastery, and spiritual realization
2. turns inward to increase personal thought, profound insights, and instant understandings instead of communicating with others
3. least gender specific color equally appealing to men and women

Green (Jupiter)
1. soothes and relaxes mentally as well as spiritually
2. helps alleviate depression, nervousness and anxiety
3. offers a sense of renewal, self-control, and harmony
4. used world wide to promote safety

Orange (Venus)
1. fun and flamboyant
2. stimulates activity and appetite
3. encourages socialization
4. in the chakra realm: linked with the sexual organs and reproductive system

Red (Mars)
1. directly related to the level of energy percieved
2. encourages action and confidence (no wonder Sailor Moon always looks to Mars)
3. provides a sense of protection from fears and anxiety
4. associated closely with a few deities in Shinto and Buddhist tradition

Purple (Saturn and Pluto?) This was the strangest:
1. can cause unrest and uneasiness
2. calms the mind and nerves as well
3. offers a sense of spirituality
4. in the chakra realm: representative of pure thought
5. infinite consciousness and deep spiritual understanding
6. here's the weird part: this is the color that is symbolic for the planet Jupiter

Pink (Sailor Moon)
1. youthful, fun, exciting (for a darker pink it evokes sensuality
2. encourages friendliness while discouraging aggression and ill-will
3. makes us crave sugar

Black (Tuxedo Kamen)
1. is mysterious by evoking a sense of potential and possibility
2. authoritative and powerful, can evoke strong emotions but can be overwhelming.

Thought that could add a little insight although I might be way off. But it was interesting reading the descriptions for each color and thinking "yeah, I can see how that fits."
GAZ: I m only thirteen levels away from finishing this game. So I either finish my game or make you wish I was never born!!

In Thailand, purple is worn by a widow mourning her husband's death. *works well for both*

In Japan, the color purple signifies wealth and position. *well Pluto definitely holds a high position as guardian of time*

In Tudor Britain, violet was the color of mourning, as well as the color of religious fervor. *also works well for both*

Traditionally, in Iran, purple is a color of what is to come. A sun or moon that looks purple during an eclipse is an omen of bloodshed within the year. *hmm...pluto sounding as well*

(though we must remember that pluto is actually considered black and not purple, so a lot of these go away) Sailor Saturn though is strongly considered to be the most powerful, dangerous, and deadly which go well with many of the above themes, esp. considering that she was the one that dies differently then the others normally at the end of a series.

Interesting, but I thought Pluto's color was black, not purple.

That is wiki's interpretation.
