Would you watch a re done version of Sailor Moon?

I know I have a site based on this because its a dream of mine to see. A revamp of the show with the plots centered on the manga storylines. I think it would make the characters more developed and mature. I know a lot of anime fans would say what about the Ann and Ail saga and stuff like that but I dunno I could go without them this round to see the original plots. Especially a redo of the Time Arc, Pluto's death was so cheated in the anime, so was the introduction of Diana. I just think if they redid the series and used more of the manga's storylines people would be suprized at how amazing the Sailor Moon series is. Anyone agree? Disagree? just wanted to know what you guys thought.

You are talking about two different forms of media. I mean seriousily. If it's a dream of yours, get the rights to do it and produce it yourself. I don't see Toei doing it anytime soon.

Okay first off I understand that they are two different mediums but you could still revamp the show and use the original plots that Mrs. Takeuchi created and get a decent series. And it would be like so many other cartoons that have been brought back or redone. Your response is pretty hostile sounding maybe im reading it wrong but I was not trashing the anime, if thats what you got from my post. If it wasnt for the original series I probably wouldnt have brought the manga, I just think the story in the manga would be great animated as well. And trust me if I had the funds I would buy the rights and hire a decent production crew to revamp the show, unfortunately I dont have those kinds of funds laying around. Besides I was just asking who would watch it something you didnt even bother answering so im not going to even bother getting upset by your buy the rights comment or the fact that you obviously are trying to act intellectually superior by pointing out that they are two different mediums. Thanks for responding though ^_^

I totally agree. I would love to see Sailor Moon re-animated using the manga's storyline. I've always liked Rei's personality better in the manga, and how Usagi was more mature. Plus Mamo-chan is a lot better looking and nicer in the manga too. I still love the original anime though.

Depends on which studio does it and who is cast.

I'd rather not have another Toei version, it would probably be more of the same... or worse. I'd rather see what someone like KyoAni would do.
As for a new Usagi, I would like Mai Nakahara in that role.

Well sure. I would definitely watch it. I never read the manga but I would like to see how it would be animated and see all the new changes. Plus, I could get to see the attacks that weren't included like "Mars Snake Fire" and "Jupiter Coconut Cyclone".

If I could id try to get as many fans of both versions together who dabble in writting art and poll people on who they think would make good voice actors/actresses for the series. I think if it was done with fans backing it Naoko's stories would blossom even more in animated form. And heck even have it where fans write little filler episodes for fun since those were great to watch to just dont take so much from the original plots anymore.

Senshi_of_Vision, have you seen PGSM? It re-did the Classic storyline exceptionally well, and added in a few new characters that managed not to be annoying.

Even though I prefer the anime, I'd watch it. I like the manga enough, I LOVE Sailor Moon in general...another series...sure! Maybe some of the things that confused me about the manga would be made clearer if they were animated, too.

Unsure. I watched both PGSM, anime, and read the manga. Even if it was digitally re-mastered with all the fancy CG, I already know how the story goes.

I would probably watch either one, although I probably wouldn't watch a new Sailor Moon series from America. I could see another DiC fest going on if America made an American Sailor Moon... Or a Toonmakers fest. *barf* But I'd probably watch a few episodes, just to see how the series would go.

Id like to see a new version of the series based majorilly on the manga plots and even the little filler subplots (Battle Exams etc) It would have nearly the same storyline as the original series only more developed, less filler and fluff and more developed characters. And yes while most know how the series end if you watched more then the crappy dubbed series they air here I think people would be suprized by the blantant storyline changes that they did converting the manga stories into animated form. I think the characters in both forms sailor and their alternate personalities were not touched upon enough, or completely altered like poor Rei. And while I liked the fact that other characters (Naru and Umino) were given bigger roles in the anime, they left out other friends who helped the Senshi just as much and it makes no sense to me. I also think the villians were reduced to comedic bumblers, and the tragedy of Queen Beryl, I went from thinking she was a goofy hag to actually crying for her when I read the manga. Id just love to see the series redone showing these aspects of the story.

I think this could be really interesting. The manga is so beautiful. But the manga has a faster pace...a new anime based on the manga would be considerably shorter than the current anime. Then again, that could be a good thing. ^^;

Thats a great idea (probably has zero chance of happing though). The manga's storyline is different enough to warrant a new anime, and some of the characters are developed better.

In a way it has been done I heard that the 2 SuperS specials were acutely based on magna specials. In fact the attack, "Mercury Aqua Mirage," that Ami uses in her special is a manga technique (IIRC)

Yeah about the only way I can see it happening to is if a fan with tons of cash can convince the current owners of the rights to sell them then manage to still have enough money to hire a decent production crew. Id also hope that person would involve Mrs. Takeuchi herself as well that way nothing is loss in the conversion but its like I said to most its a dream. I know one thing if I ever did come into the serious kind of cash needed to do this id do it just for the heck of it even if it flopped.

Yep id personally love to see Jupiter use her Floral Hurricane attack, but the one scene in the manga that made me long for a new version of the anime was an Ami scene, the one where she is up against Viluy and dives out of a high floor window into a pool of water to transform, that scene alone to me would look so awesome animated and show that Mercury/Ami was not just all defense and studying.
